When he pulls away, he smirks and looks at his brother. “I think you’re with the wrong brother, but he’s a close second.” He winks, and Brady playfully punches him in the shoulder.

There’s an announcement over the speaker in the stadium, and Jasper glances at the clock. “I think you have somewhere you need to be.”

Brady nods and looks at me reluctantly.

“Go.” I wave him off. “I’ll see you after.”

He kisses me, deepening it to what is more than appropriate given our audience.

“Get a room,” Evan yells.

“They’re in a room,” Theo says, and Brady and I end the kiss laughing.

“Go out there and be a winner,” Lennon shouts as Brady makes his way to the door.

He stops and turns around to look at me. “I already won today, no matter what happens out on that field.”

I smile as Theo takes my hand and leads me to the windows so we can see the field. The entire game, as I watch my future husband play his heart out, all I can think of is how I belong here. And for a girl like me, that’s all I’ve ever wanted.

Epilogue

Brady

Aweek and a half after I asked Violet to marry me, she moved into my place with Theo and me, and things couldn’t be more perfect. Some might think I’m crazy for proposing to Violet minutes after we got back together, but how’s that for a grand gesture?

Let’s see one of my buddies try to top that.

We’ve just dropped Theo off at Hannah’s for the night and are headed over to Chase’s for an impromptu celebration with some of the team to celebrate our engagement. Chase wasn’t happy about being chosen as host, but we all agreed that since he never has us over to his place, his time is up.

We just have to make one pit stop on the way.

I turn off the route that we’d need to take to Chase’s, but Violet doesn’t seem to notice. As soon as I park in front of a bunch of shops where there are no condo buildings to be found, she looks at me quizzically.

“Chase lives around here?”

“Nope.” I lean over and draw her in for a kiss.

She chuckles as she pulls away. “All right, what are we doing here then?”

“It’s a surprise. C’mon.” I get out of the car and walk around the front to open her door and help her out. Once we’re hand in hand on the sidewalk, I lead her toward our destination.

“Brady, where are we going?”

“Here.” I stop us in front of the jewelry store where I picked out a ring for her two days after I proposed. I had to guess on the sizing, so I hope it fits. Violet hasn’t asked once about the ring, which shouldn’t be a surprise, but I want my ring on her finger. I want the entire world to know this woman is mine.

She glances at the sign and her hand flies up to her mouth. “What’s going on?”

“Let’s go inside and see.” I hold open the door then follow her inside.

“Mr. Banks, hello again,” Marcelle, the jeweler I worked with last week, says when we enter.

“Marcelle, this is my beautiful fiancée, Violet. Violet, Marcelle.” I motion between the two of them.

He holds out his hand. “Pleasure to meet you. Congratulations on your engagement.”

“Thank you.” Violet’s smile is so wide and genuine that I know I did the right thing by picking her ring out myself.

I wasn’t sure whether she would want to do it, but I figured since we had a nontraditional proposal, it would be okay if I went the traditional route and chose the ring for her.
