"What the fuck are you doing?" Scarlett shouted from inside the room.

"I have no idea," I said.

Scarlett ran outside and immediately started yelling at Grayson. "What the hell are you doing? Get up off the ground."

"I'm getting up," he replied, rolling onto his knees.

"If you touch me again, I'll break your damn neck," I threatened.

"Enough," Scarlett said, pulling me away from him.

"I'm serious."

She shook her head. "Drako, you need to leave now."

"Fine. I'm going." I said before walking away.

Chapter Seven

Grayson

My altercation with Drakowas probably not the greatest idea, but there was too much about him I didn't understand. Knowing that Scarlett chose to spend so much time with him was driving me crazy. Thoughts of the two of them together constantly ran through my head.

In the darkness, I lay staring at the ceiling. I watched the faint shadows as they changed on it. The flickering streetlamp outside the window did little to illuminate the room, making seeing much else difficult.

I turned my head to check the clock that sat on the nightstand by the bed and let out a heavy sigh. Two hours had passed since Scarlett walked out of my room and still, I hadn't heard from her. The thought of going to the bar to find her had crossed my mind but I was done chasing for the night. She'd made up her mind and she could handle herself. I would just have to wait until tomorrow when we both woke up.

It wasn't like I had anything better to do anyway. I sat up on the bed, bored out of my mind and trying to stay awake. The break-in had left me on edge, and I needed to be ready in case anything happened. I walked to the bathroom to splash water on my face in hopes of putting off sleep a little longer.

"What's wrong?"

I jumped in surprise at the sound of Scarlett's voice coming from right behind me.

I spun around quickly, grabbing onto the sink as I did so. It was dark in the bathroom, but it didn't take long for my eyes to adjust. In the mirror, I saw Scarlett leaning against the doorframe with her arms folded across her chest. Her hair looked wet and there were circles under her eyes.

"You scared me," I said quietly. "Why are you here?"

Scarlett shrugged. "I thought you might want company."

"I don't need company. I'm fine on my own."

Scarlett shook her head. "Don't be stupid."

I sighed and rubbed my hand over my face. "Fine. What do you want then?"

She took a step closer to me, her hands reaching out and gripping my arm. "Look, I know we're not best friends or anything, but I feel like I've been kind of a bitch lately. I just wanted to apologize."

I nodded slowly. "For what?"

Her face softened into a smile. "Well, firstly, for being an asshole. Secondly, for all the shit you went through this last week because of me. And thirdly, for being such a big baby about everything that happened."

I narrowed my eyes at her. "Being a bitch? You've got to be kidding me."

Scarlett chuckled softly. "No, I'm serious. I was a bitch to you and it wasn't fair. I'm sorry."

I gave her a small nod of acceptance, giving her a chance to say more if she wanted to. She didn't though, instead moving forward and wrapping her arms around my waist.

"Thank you," she whispered.
