"Hey!" Scarlett called out, waving at a car that drove past us.

I raised my eyebrows at her. "How did you even know they were coming?"

She shrugged. "They were driving fast. I just waved."

I laughed. "Are you drunk?"

She smirked. "Maybe. Do you care?"

I shook my head. "Not really, no."

Scarlett giggled. "Good."

We walked on, passing a large building with a sign saying 'Hotel'. I glanced over my shoulder and realized we had arrived at the edge of the city. The road became quieter and the buildings less frequent.

The buildings soon became smaller and the roads narrower, creating a sense of claustrophobia. The sky darkened overhead, rain hitting my shoulders as I walked. My feet grew heavier with every step I took, my body growing weary.

The buildings became more derelict, with boarded-up windows filled with graffiti. Graffiti was slowly getting covered up by newer tags. The streets had an eerie vibe to them as if something lurked in the shadows.

"Where are we?" I asked, glancing around nervously.

Scarlett stopped and turned to look at me. "You'll see."

I looked back at the buildings, peering into the narrow alleys between them. They were dark and empty, making it easy to hide within. My skin prickled as a sudden chill ran through me.

"This place looks dangerous."

"Yes," Scarlett replied. "It is."

I swallowed hard. "What exactly are we doing here?"

Scarlett gave me a confused frown. "What do you mean?"

"I'm asking you what we're doing here. This isn't like you. You're normally not the type to wander off into the unknown by yourself."

Scarlett scoffed. "I'm not alone. I brought you."

"But what if something happens? You won't be able to help me."

She nodded. "I'm not worried about me. I'm worried about you. If something does happen, I want you to run. Got it?"

I scrunched my nose, unsure of whether to trust her. "What do you expect me to do? Just leave you here?"

She shook her head. "No, that's not what I meant. Don't worry about me. I'll be okay."

I sighed, taking a deep breath. "Okay, fine. But at least tell me where we're going. I'm starting to get nervous."

"Sure thing," she said, grinning at me. "Follow me."

She headed down one of the narrow lanes and I followed closely behind her. I kept my eyes peeled, scanning the alleyways for any signs of danger.

"Where are we going?" I asked, glancing back up at Scarlett.

"To meet someone," she replied, pausing in front of a dilapidated warehouse. A broken chain link fence surrounded it, the metal posts twisted and bent.

"Who is it?"

"Someone I met recently."
