I could feel the tears threatening to spill out of my eyes. It was too much. Hearing all the secrets, knowing that everything she told us was to get us to lead her to the Dark One. The fact that she kept the secret from me for so long.

"I need to talk to her about this." I stated firmly and stormed back inside.

Once I entered the kitchen, I saw her sitting there with her arms crossed. Her face showed no emotions.

I took a few steps closer until I stood directly in front of her.

"You planned all of this? All of this?" I asked with anger in my voice.

"I was planning for quite a while. I just wanted everyone to think that I wasn't as powerful as they were. I needed to find out who the Dark One was first. I couldn't take the risk of telling anyone my plans."

"What about Henry?"

"Henry is different. He already knew the truth."

I took a deep breath trying to calm myself down. It didn't work.

"I can't believe you didn't tell me. How could you not tell me?"

"It was for your own good. I knew it would have put you in danger, Grayson, to learn who your mate is."

My eyes immediately went to her neck. She quickly followed my gaze, "This was the only way to find the Dark One while keeping us all safe.”

I was speechless.

"Safe? What about your father? He almost died keeping your secret."

"We all almost died, Grayson. He made the choice to get captured, not me. That part really was the truth. It was everything after that I had to manipulate."

I shook my head, refusing to accept any of it. I refused to believe she did that willingly. But if she did, why? Why did she feel the need to keep it a secret from me and how did she know that things would go her way?

Her hand gently grabbed mine, forcing me to look at her. I could still feel my heart pounding against my chest. She must be able to hear it.

"Don't make this any harder than it needs to be," she whispered softly, "For once, will you just have faith in me. I never wanted to hurt you."

I sighed heavily before lowering my head down and squeezing her hand tightly.

"I know. I shouldn't doubt you anymore."

Her smile grew as we both broke into a light laughter. We stayed silent for a short moment before her expression softened and she leaned forward. Our lips met softly.

I closed my eyes. The kiss lasted longer than either of us expected. My body instinctively began to warm up and relax. Even though the kiss was passionate, it was brief. Before it fully ended, my brain was overwhelmed by so many thoughts and emotions.

After pulling back and looking into her beautiful green eyes, I knew that there was more to be gained if I was truly going to help her. She deserved a chance at a normal life after everything she had been through. So, for now, I'd give it to her.

"I'll try to trust you one last time," I said softly, "But only this time. Only because I love you."

"I know."

A wide grin appeared across her face as a blush spread across my face.

"Now," she started, turning back around and grabbing her purse that sat beside the chair we were previously sitting in. "Where should we go?"

I shrugged my shoulders as I walked past her out of the house, "Somewhere warm and sunny. Somewhere with few people and fresh air."

She followed close behind as we headed to the door. I took hold of the handle of the door that led outside before stopping. I turned around and stared at her expectantly. She raised an eyebrow and tilted her head to the side slightly in confusion.

"What?" she asked hesitantly.
