I wonder if he felt it too.

“Let’s keep looking. Do you have anywhere we can hide this?” I ask as Tristan takes the book from my hands, sliding the loose pages back inside, then sneaks it under his breastplate of armor.

A wicked grin stretches across his face. “This thing comes in handy every now and then.”

I push to my feet. Tristan goes to the other side of the room as we continue our search.

I’m so short, anything above eye level is hard to see. I grab a chair, placing it in front of the shelf and climb up.

The view isn’t perfect, but it will work. My eyes sweep across, looking for anything that stands out.

Rubies, sapphires, and an array of jewels line a couple shelves. Probably gifted to her by my grandfather, King Ryvis. On the opposite end, a few small mixing bowls.

I jump down, satisfied there isn’t anything here, and scoot the chair to the other end.

The mixing bowls each have a vial of blood hidden behind them. They aren’t labeled, but each vial is placed in a way she would know who it belonged to.

“Tris, there are vials of blood.”

“Don’t touch them. Not until we know what significance they hold and what she’s using them for.”

I nod, moving to the next shelf but startle when Tristan lets out a gasp from behind me.

The sound of wood scraping the ground hits my ears. I jerk my head to see the wall he’s standing in front of start moving.

Tristan tenses, and his brows pull together with a frown on his face. Clearly, he’s shocked by this.

But not me, my eyes bulge, a smirk forming on my lips as I’m filled with excitement.

I’ve heard stories about hidden passages in Windemere since I was a child.

Rami and I used to make a game of it, to see if we could find one.

We never did, but it wasn’t for lack of trying.

I guess I just didn’t look hard enough or in the right places.

I hop down from where I stand and rush over, wanting to see what’s inside. Tristan’s hand snakes out, snatching me around the waist.

My head snaps to him. “Let me go,” I grind out.

He pulls me back into his body. I’m squirming in his arms but can’t break free. “I know you have a death wish, but I prefer my head on my shoulders. So chill the fuck out and let me gofirst.” His lips move against the nape of my neck, sending a flood of goosebumps across my skin.

He’s getting super comfortable cussing at me, and I don’t like it. Not one bit.

His other hand comes around, holding my back to his chest.

My body stills, I feel him grow hard. My heart races, eyes bulging, feeling every inch of his long, thick cock harden against me.

Voices fill the hall. We freeze, glancing at one another, paralyzed in fear.

The jingle of keys being inserted into the door has our feet moving. We fly into the hidden chamber, shutting the door behind us just before the door opens, and Mortianna’s voice fills the room.
