“Blair! You’re engaged???” Tilda asks as her voice rises. “Luc! Did you propose???”

“Yes, and yes,” I respond. “I know I didn’t ask for her hand. But I’m sure we have your blessing, Roderick.”

His mouth opens and closes, then he shakes his head.

“You know, Luc, if you weren’t my best friend, I’d kick your bloody ass,” he says, then turns to Blair. “Are you happy, sweetheart?”

“Yes! Very much so. And”—she turns to me and extends her hand. I take it and she continues—“We’re pregnant… with twins.”

“Pregnant???”

“Twins???”

They shout in unison as their eyes bug from their heads.

Blair laughs at the spectacle, and I join in.

“Yes!” We say together.

“Luc…”

I raise my hands palms out and grin at Rod. He rolls his eyes as he shakes his head.

“Fantastic news!” Jasper says as he extends his hand.

We shake, and Jillian hugs me.

“Do we have your blessing, Dad?” Blair asks quietly.

He glances between us, at her ring, and at her belly, then nods.

“Of course, sweetheart. Of course.”

Blair throws her arms around her father. He hugs her close and stares at me over her head.

“And you, Luc, better never hurt my daughter, or you can forget it.”

“I expect no less. But have no worries since I love Blair with all my heart.”

He nods and extends his hand. We shake and clap one another on the shoulder.

“Well, we have lots to plan,” Tilda says as she puts her arm around Blair’s waist and touches her belly. “I knew you were glowing all along!”

We laugh and get into the golf carts for the ride to the château. Once inside, we settle in a salon. Blair shares the ultrasound scans as we give them the details of her pregnancy.

She and I decided to have our wedding before she gives birth. Which gives her a couple of months to plan since I want to take her on a two-month honeymoon. My only request is to host the wedding festivities here. The ceremony will take place in the chapel and the reception in the grand ballroom. I promised Blair a fairy-tale wedding fit for La Duchesse de Blois. Her eyes sparkled brighter than her engagement ring. Her happiness filled my heart with joy.

As it does now with her surrounded by her family. No worry in her eyes since they’re as excited as she is, even Roderick. He glances at me and grins. I grin back.

“How about some Champagne to celebrate? Well, everyone but Blair. You, Mon Amour, will have iced lemon ginger tea.”

I ring for Denis and ask for the beverages. He returns and serves them. Once he leaves, I stand for a toast.

“To the health and happiness of Mon Amour and our twins.”

Everyone cheers, then Roderick stands.

“Here’s to you, Luc. You bring a light to Blair’s eyes I have never seen before. I am proud to have you as my best friend, brother, son-in-law, and father of my grandchildren. Cheers.”
