“I can’t wait to tell them! I think my mother suspects since we invited them to Château de Blois. Did my father give any hint he knew?”

I grin at Blair’s excitement as we watch Roderick’s helicopter fly towards the helipad. He, her mother, and siblings will join us for the weekend. Blair and I plan a to tell them as soon as they land since she doesn’t want to wait another second.

It’s been a week since she told me she’s pregnant and I proposed. I insisted we visit her OB-GYN the next day. I must be sure he’s the best doctor for her in New York City since she will split her time between there and Paris. Here, Dr. Pierre Berger—the best in his field—will care for her and deliver our babies.

As the major benefactor of the number one hospital in Paris, I pulled rank and demanded the top OB-GYN attend to Blair. Not just of the hospital, but of all the country. I used my considerable influence to procure Dr. Berger. He has his affiliation with the hospital and serves as their OB-GYN department director in addition to being a practicing doctor.

I will not risk Blair and our babies.

Which is why he examined her when we flew in from New York City two days ago. He assured us she and the twins are in perfect health. Prior to her appointment, he and Dr. Rice held a video conference call to discuss her history and to create an action plan. At their suggestion, she will stay in Paris four weeks before she’s due. Until then, it’s fine for her to travel between the cities.

However, we will split our residences. I will work from my New York City offices three weeks out of the month. The fourth week, she will fly back to Paris with me and work from Lola’s Coterie Paris. Lola agrees and wants Blair to put her and the babies’ health above all else. Not that we need her approval. Blair does not need to work. However, she enjoys her job, and I will support her decision to continue as long as she and the twins are fine.

No risks whatsoever.

Her hand squeezing mine draws me from my musings. I bend down and kiss her lips.

“I don’t believe Rod senses anything amiss. I’m just glad we overcame the tabloid fiasco. Our announcements should smooth things over and get his mind focused on his grandchildren.”

“I hope so,” Blair says as she nibbles on her lower lip. A frown mars her beauty.

I swipe the pad of my thumb over her knitted eyebrows and cup her cheek.

“You are not to worry about even one little thing. Only focus on your joy, our babies, and on us. D’accord?”

“Okay,” she responds, then squeals. “Oh! They’re landing!”

She claps her hands and waves as their faces appear in the windows. As soon as the rotors slow, she darts forward.

“Oh, no, you won’t,” I say as I grab her waist, holding her back. “Wait until after the blades stop, and they disembark.”

“Oui, Papa,” she teases with a wink as she uses the term of endearment our babies will call me. She says it differentiates me from her Daddy and their father.

I smirk and hold her close with her back to my front and my chin atop her head. My hands rest on her belly, my new favorite spot on her body.

I should have recognized the changes in her before she told me she’s pregnant. Her fuller breasts, more sensitive than usual, with darker colored nipples. Instead of a flat, taut belly, it’s expanded slightly. The morning sickness I missed since we’re not together every day. But now, I study her body and mood like a hawk.

We started a weekly photo journal to record the changes in her babies bump. It’s incredible to watch the nuances over a few days. To add to the journey, we write messages to each baby in a diary. We’ll read it to them when they’re older. Blair’s even put a few photos of me she captured when I wasn’t aware—touching her babies bump, asleep with a hand on her belly, reading books about twins. We couldn’t be happier.

“Mum! Dad! Jasper! Jilli!”

She squirms free and rushes towards them.

I grin and follow, watching she doesn’t slip on the grass.

“Darling!”

“Sweetheart!”

I watch while she embraces her family. Then notice Jillian’s eyes widen. Blair’s engagement ring dazzles in the bright sun. Her sister swings her gaze in my direction, and my grin nearly splits my face.

“What’s this all about, Blair???” Jillian shrieks as she holds her sister’s hand up.

Roderick’s head swivels from the ring to me. I nod.
