Chapter Thirty-nine

Andi

The next morning, I wake up to the sweet smell of coffee brewing in the kitchen. Reaching over, I feel that Jonas isn’t in bed next to me. I was hoping to go for a Round 2 this morning. Okay, more like a Round 4. I swear the man is a machine.

Groaning, I get up out of bed and throw on Jonas’s t-shirt before making a quick pit-stop at the bathroom. When I finish, I walk out into the large living area. I don’t see Jonas at first, but then I realize he’s out on the back deck. Quickly, I pour a quick cup of coffee and head out to join him.

When he sees me, he smiles. “Good morning, beautiful. Did you sleep okay?”

I rub my eyes. “Yes, you fucked me into a coma. I slept wonderfully.”

We both laugh.

Looking down, I realize I don’t have any pants (or panties) on. “I should go put on some bottoms,” I say.

“Why?” He looks around. “There’s no one around. Who’s going to see you?”

Good point.

I walk over and take a seat in the lounge chair next to his. He’s covered up with a blanket, and I can see why. There’s a bit of a chill in the crisp morning air.

Seeing my noticeable shiver, Jonas gestures for me to come to sit with him. I happily oblige and get comfortable on his lap as he pulls the blanket over both of us.

Looking out over the mountains is relaxing enough to make me want to go back to sleep right here. But I have a feeling Jonas has plans.

“What do you want to do today?” I ask.

“Well, it’s notmybirthday weekend now, is it?”

“No, but you’ve been here before. I figured there would be things you’d want to do,” I reply.

“I don’t have a lot of plans,” he says. “But we can go into town if you want to. Maybe just for a couple of hours, and then, we can come back and relax.”

“Sounds good to me.” I smile.

Later that day, we are back at the cabin. We spent the first part of the day walking around the shops in downtown Gatlinburg. I loved all of it.

We must have gone to 25 of the small stores. I was enchanted by all of the homemade candies and crafts, and I spent way too much money on food and fruity wines. Jonas and I argued at each one, deciding who would pay.

Although his gesture to pay was extremely nice…and appreciated…but he’s already done so much for me. And I imagine that cabin we are staying in is costing a pretty penny. I’ve always said that I wanted a man, not an ATM.

And Jonas Mitchell is all the man that I need.

All of the shopping apparently wore me out because once we get back to the cabin and turn on a movie, it’s mere minutes before I pass out on the couch.

When I wake up a couple of hours later, Jonas is playing with my hair while he finishes the movie we had started.

“Sorry, I fell asleep,” I groggily say.

“You don’t have to apologize for being tired. We had a marathon last night,” he says with a grin.
