It was still a gentle seduction, a brush of his lips, his hands skimming up on my skin, his lips kissing down my body. A gentle peeling away of my clothing, and my frantic tugging of his. And when he finally made love to me, finally made me his, all I could think was that I never, ever, ever wanted to leave his arms. His lips were tucked into the crook of my neck as he kissed me, his body molded to mine, pulsing inside me, and he whispered against my lips. "I love you too. I have always loved you."

Those little words had me breaking apart around him, holding on tight, praying to God that I would be able to hold on to him. Because without him, I might not be able to survive.

Westin

I woke up to the light streaming in and the scent of Nissa all around me. I waited for the remorse. I did. Just none of it came. I had loved her for so long, and she was mine, in my arms, and I wasn't ever going to let her go.

On my nightstand, my phone rang and I frowned. All I wanted was more time with her, more chance, more opportunity. Just another five minutes. But the phone incessantly rang, and I sighed. When I checked who it was, I sat up in bed, careful not to disturb her. "Yes, Julian, what do you need?"

"Come back to the house."

"Yeah, in a minute."

"Not in a minute, bloody fucking now."

My gut knotted. How the fuck did he already know?

I knew I had to keep her safe and keep her out of this. I'd just go up for now. I set the alarm for her. By the time I came back, she'd be ready to go, and I could walk her home.

If you can still walk after Julian is done with you.

He might be pissed off, but there wasn't much he could do. Nissa had made her choice.

Yes, she did, and you did, too. Now you have to pay the piper.

I took a five-minute shower and threw on the usual black cargoes. I wasn't like his other security that I had to wear suits yet. I took my bag up to the house, and true to all the rules I had learned to follow, I didn't dare go into the front, but to the servant's entrance. After all, that's where Mrs. Pembry entered, so that's where I should enter.

When I met him in his study, he sat back and said, "Westin."

"Sir."

He grinned at me. "I do like it when you call me sir."

"What do you need, Uncle Julian?"

"How was Nissa's date last night?"

My jaw clicked shut, and I had to work on soothing the muscle there. "He got a bit handsy. I dealt with him."

Julian lifted a brow. "He got handsy with my daughter?"

"Yes, but truth be told, she didn't need me to deal with it. She was handling it on her own. Still though, I made it perfectly clear he was to go nowhere near her ever again."

"I will have to make sure I make an example of him."

If I'd been a better person, I might have begged for the kid, but he was stupid and dumb, and I wasn't a better person. Whatever the fuck Julian did to him, he deserved.

"I have another matter for you."

I could tell from his demeanor, he knew something was going on. "Yes, what is it?"

"It's about Nissa."

Fuck. Last night, I’d known the risk I was taking with her, with myself. But still, her big dark eyes told me it was worth it, telling me that she loved me, and my control just fucking snapped. I shouldn't have done it, I knew that. But still, I couldn't help myself. She was mine. I'd always felt that way. And now she was really mine.

"What do you need me to do?"

"It's time for you to take a more active role in the business."
