Rolly turns his head towards the door and stares at me, blinking and dazed.

“What?” he begins. “Hey wait, what are you doing here Tess?”

“I have a spare key, remember?” I shriek, holding up the silver implement in the light. “But what areyoudoing?”

Rolly rolls off of his paramour and has the grace to look ashamed at least.

“I was going to tell you, Tess. I swear. But it’s just that … well, our marriage isn’t working out.”

I make myself stay calm because this is actually a dream come true. I came over to break up with the young man, but instead, he’s going to do it for me. I know I should fake outrage, or at least some type of righteous anger, but all I can do is maintain a neutral façade.

“Right. I agree,” I nod as the older woman sits up before pulling a silky pink robe around her shoulders. “We should get a divorce because things aredefinitelynot working out. I’ll file as soon as City Hall opens. Or I’ll get a divorce lawyer or do whatever has to be done.”

Rolly looks sad, but also relieved. His shoulders straighten even as he shoots me a grateful look.

“Yeah, I know this comes as a shock but it hasn’t been working for a while, Tess, and I just realized it a tad too late. The timing could have been better, for sure, but I guess my tastes run to older women. This is Teresa, by the way,” he introduces. “She’s my TA in one of my classes. She’s getting a Ph.D. in classics.”

The blonde MILF on the bed waves at me, looking shamefaced, but nottooshamefaced.

“Hi,” she burbles in a cheerful voice. “Rolly’s fantastic in my section. He’s my best student, in fact.”

I merely turn away because discussing my husband’s academic exploits with his lover is not on my list of to-dos. In fact, this scenario is not what I anticipated at all, and I’m still reeling from shock. But my main goal has been accomplished, and as a result, I should leave and give these people their privacy. But then a thought strikes and I spin on my heel back towards my soon-to-be-ex.

“Rolly, you weren’t using protection,” I say in a low voice. By now, the young man has a towel wrapped around his waist so I can’t see his bare cock, but I know what I saw and heard. “That means I need to get tested, and you should get tested too. We shouldallbe tested.”

“Of course, of course,” he says quickly. “It’s just, well, Teresa’s too old to get pregnant, so we decided we didn’t need condoms. But I totally get your point, Tess. Will do. I know I’m clean, but I understand your concern.”

With that, I nod and step out of the dorm room before shutting the door behind me with a soft click. Then I stand in place for a moment, my head reeling as my pulse continues to thrum like a hummingbird’s wings. Did that really just happen? Did I just catch my ex cheating on me with a much-older MILF? Even more, did we just agree to a divorce, even though we only got married two weeks ago?

I begin to float down the hall in a daze because this is so crazy. Rolly was with another woman! Yet I realize that I’m a hypocrite too because I had sex with his dad yesterday, and that’s ten times worse than hooking up with a random TA. Still, this has been such an incredible turn of events, and I need time to absorb these new developments. After all, what’s going to happen with Roland and me now? Can I still visit the handsome felon, even if I’m his ex-daughter-in-law? I desperately want to, but what if it’s no longer possible?

My heart sinks but then I summon my resolve and straighten my shoulders. This isn’t the end of me and Roland Barker by a long shot because our connection was too strong and I’ll find a way to continue our liaison, come hell or high water.

CHAPTER5

Tess

Icheck in at the visitor’s gate at Fishkill, my heart pounding. Technically, I’m still Roland’s daughter in law because although Rolly and I got our divorce going, it’s not finalized yet. So I still count as an eligible family visitor, right? I hope so.

Fortunately, the guard looks very bored as my personal belongings roll through the X-ray machine.

“Name?” he asks while cracking his gum.

I manage an innocent smile.

“Tess Stanfield, for Roland Barker,” I reply like nothing’s wrong. Maybe I should clarify that I’m his daughter in law, even if it’s weird that his son isn’t here today. But the guard merely shrugs.

“Sure, go ahead. Cabin 2 on the west side,” he says with a ginormous yawn before throwing me a lascivious smile. “Have fun, Mrs. Barker.”

I stop and stare at him for a moment because why did he call me Mrs. Barker? But then I realize that that it’s likely an innocent mistake. Rolly and Roland actually have the same name, and they probably think that I’m Roland’s wife, and not his daughter in law. Whew! Relief makes my frame sag because this is ideal. It doesn’t look fishy at all if a wife comes for a conjugal visit, whereas a daughter in law arriving on her own might raise eyebrows.

With one last relieved smile, I grab my stuff and then exit the visitor’s trailer before making my way to Cabin 2. I step onto the stoop of the small structure, and then knock softly.

“Come,” comes a low rasp from inside, and the door swings open to reveal my handsome man seated at the kitchen table. Roland’s even more gorgeous than I remember with his black hair swept off that high forehead, and those piercing blue eyes shooting straight to my soul. My heart races as I throw myself into his arms, even as his mouth claims mine in a sensual kiss.

“The door wasn’t even shut yet,” my man chuckles with one eyebrow quirked when we finally break away. “Miss me much?”

I merely giggle before slapping him lightly on that broad chest with a small hand.
