“I warned him what would happen if he fucked with us again.”

Frank always believed in being proactive.

“Looks like he can kiss his political career goodbye.” A jet of satisfaction zipped through Samson’s blood.

“He made the mistake of not taking me seriously. Too bad he can’t control his son.”

Samson could read between the lines. All the evidence his goons collected that day somehow fell into the right hands, and he had no illusions about how that happened.

“That asshole’s biggest mistake was underestimating me.”

Samson knew that firsthand. Frank didn’t play when it came to business, and now Monroe found out the hard way.

“A mistake I know you’d never make, right?”

Frank’s leading question snapped Samson out of his sweet revenge.

“Right?” Frank repeated.

“Yeah, right,” Samson confirmed.

“Just so we understand each other.” The call disconnected, and Samson rubbed the back of his neck as Frank’s cryptic words played across his brain.

One week later, after a shopping spree at the Aria designer shops, Lisbeth purchased a white, backless Alice and Olivia slip dress that enhanced her slim silhouette and a pair of red Christian Louboutin sling-backs, they headed to the Crystal Chapel on Las Vegas Boulevard.

Again, the sheer spontaneity of the day thrilled her. Samson was teaching Lisbeth to go with her gut, not plan every detail of her life, and she loved the freedom it instilled in her.

They stood hand in hand before the justice of the peace with Nick and Juliet as their witnesses. The ceremony lasted maybe ten minutes, and they stared into each other’s eyes the entire time.

“I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride.”

Samson pulled her to him before the officiate finished his sentence, attacking her lips and deepening the kiss as his hands slid down and palmed her ass.

“Shit, brother, save something for later,” Mamba bellowed from the first row, where the Serpents and their women cheered them on.

“You’ve made me so happy,” Samson mumbled against her lips.

Lisbeth cupped his cheek. “I love you.”

“I never stopped loving you.”

Nick, Jax, Juliet, and Willow surrounded them with hugs and congratulations.

Evelyn squeezed Lisbeth’s arm. “You look genuinely happy.”

“I am.” Lisbeth heard the truth of those simple two words because sometimes happiness didn’t come easy, but it was always worth it in the end.
