“Alrighty!” She left me to my own devices.

Every other thing functioned normally. No more surprises, a relief for sure. There was a problem with a vendor and I spoke to their main office for a couple of hours before they agreed to straighten things out. We were out of a liquor that was popular and they agreed to send somebody down to make it right tonight.

When I finally came down, the club was open and in full swing. The music boomed throughout the space, the alcohol flowed, the patrons grooved and filled the place to capacity. It felt alive in here like the club was literally breathing. Refreshed, it thrived in a way it hadn’t before. Why? Had I really been doing that horribly before?

“What do you think?” Cara shouted from behind me.

“It’s amazing.” I admitted, completely blown away.

“I agree.” She handed me her phone and gasped.

I’d put off putting up more social media because I didn’t want to get overwhelmed. The app that she showed was up to over twelve thousand followers and the pictures were incredible. There were posts encouraging people to come last weekend and this one. There were advertisements for the new alcohol brands we were carrying, another for the valet services, and even a picture of me walking down the steps smiling.

“Cara, I had no idea.” Shocked, I continued swiping.

“I figured with Beni coming onboard, it was the best time for me to try it. If things went wrong, I’d just have blamed it on him.” She shrugged.

“I’m so glad that you did. This is awesome.”

“I have a few requests to rest the place out. I figured that I’d wait until the perfect time to ask, and tonight seemed right. You were a little down earlier, but when the crowd seemed to change that, I trusted my gut.”

“Well, it was a pleasant surprise,” I admitted. She’d done well.

“Yay!” she clapped her hands close together. “I need to go get more shots of the VIP area before they get too wild up there. I’ll catch you later.”

“You’re stunning.” The words came from the man responsible for the internal war inside me. Like him or tell him to fuck off?

“Hello, Beni,” I yelled so he could hear.

“That dress was made especially for you.”

“Hmm…” I went to walk away and he caught my hand, pulling me close.

His body began moving against mine in time to the rhythm of a local favorite song. I refused to dance with him.

“We need to talk,” I said.

“First we dance.”

I shook my head no and when I turned this time, he pressed against me, still moving to the song. His hand flattened against my stomach where his fingertips touched skin. Electrified, I closed my eyes hoping that he wouldn’t catch on. He swayed against me, moving so well that my body responded. Aroused by his touch, convinced by the music, I began dancing.

Beni kept up with me and broke out his own moves. His hands held me hips while he rocked into them. My core throbbed so hard that I turned in his arms to make sure that I didn’t embarrass myself. His arms held me against him and we were almost the same height thanks to my shoes. I followed his lead and when his leg moved between mine sandwiching it, our movement became more fluid. Each thrust of hips was met with the other person’s. His eyes dropped to the spans of skin from my breasts down to my stomach.

“Is this dress for me?” He asked.

“No.” I raised my hand and snapped as the song changed to one of my favorite.

My hips suddenly had their own mind and I grooved to the beat. Beni held on to my body, never letting go. Lost in moment, I sang the words to the song and danced with him like he was mine. Turning around again, I rolled my hips against him, backing it up against him. He’d been aroused before, but as I moved against him, he grew hard–firmer.

We bounced to the beat and when it ended, I fanned my face. It was hot in here. I knew if I’d only danced a few songs and was hot, the folks who lived on the dance floor had to be burning up. I reached for my mic and realized that I didn’t have on a headset. Shit!

“I need to get to the bar. I’ll be back.” I said to him.

I used Jill’s set to get Cara to turn down the temperature. Then I did a check to make sure that everybody was good. Aside from the shortage of alcohol we were missing, things were great. The line to the bathroom was thick so I went to the one in my office to freshen up. I didn’t miss the glow when I passed the mirror. I looked more revitalized than I had in awhile. And this dress…

Entering the office area, Beni sat on the couch on the far wall.

“Can I help you?” I asked.
