“Beni! So nice to see you.” He shouted.

Who was he talking to, the entire neighborhood?

“Likewise. You asked to see me?” I stopped midway between where he stood and the exit. Massimo stood beside me and my men were posted behind me.

“We agree about the docks, yes?” He asked, smoking on a Cuban.

“We do.”But he knew that already.

“Good. I only wondered because I’ve seen some of your men in my territory pushing weight. One is specific is a frequent flyer. I thought I’d give you the opportunity to make it right.”

“Who?” I raised my eyebrow at him.

He snapped his fingers a few times, and they brought a guy from the back with a brown hood over his head. I didn’t recognize the guy immediately, and I looked at Massimo.

“That’s Jerry.” He looked up and shook his head. “I’ve told him more than once to stay from down there. He doesn’t fucking listen. His crew is becoming difficult.” Massimo spoke so that only I could hear. His fists balled up and I could see the anger rolling off him in waves. It was the proper response when somebody in the family didn’t follow your orders.

“What are you going to do about this problem?” Cecil asked.

“I’ll handle it,” I said to him. Though it agitated Massimo, I knew the reason that he hadn’t taken action was because he was too emotionally invested. The rule is if someone is out of line, you fix it however necessary.

“I thought you might. So that we agree, it needs to be handled right here and right now.”

“Shit,” Massimo mumbled. That’s when he proved my theory true. He wouldn’t be capable of managing this. I had no problem doing it, especially when he’d disrespected my brother and potentially fucking my business.

“First off, I don’t take orders from anybody. You don’t get to tell me what to do or where to do it. I understand that you’re offended, but show a bit of respect. We’re building this thing. Don’t tear it down already.” I moved toward the man we suspected was Jerry.

His men drew their guns, but so did mine. I kept walking, and I pulled off the hood, recognizing the man immediately. His face was a bloody mess. I could tell that he’d been crying and sweat wetted his entire face. I leaned over to his ear. Before I made a solution, I needed to know the truth.

“Did they catch you on Ricci territory?”

He nodded behind a sob. He tried to speak, but the rag in his mouth prevented it. I removed it and he began begging immediately.

“Mr. DeLuca, I was on the border. I didn’t mean any disrespect. Please, I won’t go down there anymore. I promise.” Except, Massimo has already given him multiple chances.

“Did Max tell you to keep your ass from down there?”

“Yes, but…”

I put the hood back on his head. I didn’t need to hear anything more. As soon as it was in the right position, his pleas were muffled again. I pulled my silver beretta from my hip and fired right in the middle of his forehead. The two guards let his body fall with a loud thump. I took a picture of the body on the ground getting the tattoo on his arm. We’d need this to put his crew in line. Either they stayed the fuck where they were supposed to or they’d meet their buddy in hell. I sent the message to Massimo to use later.

I looked at Cecil as I passed. "We're square. Next time, you tell me and I'll handle it myself. I can't have you roughing up my guys. That's my job. Did you need anything else?" I handed Massimo my gun to take care of.

"We're square, Beni." He took another swig from his cigar. "You're a much better man than your father, DeLuca."

"We'll do better if you keep his name out of your mouth." Remembering something, I paused before exiting. "That guy your guys dragged out of here looked familiar."

"Marcus? That cock sucking fagot. Is he blowing you, too?" He chuckled.

"No, that’s not my thing. What's your business with him?"

"He owes me too much. Between the loan sharks and the pimps, I can't keep up with him."

"Did you by chance vandalize his car?" I raised my head, hoping it was.

"Maybe. I can’t be sure what my guys have done to wangle him."

"That car doesn't belong to him. Never did. It belongs to me, though. If you're looking for something to crush, it's best to just handle him directly. With a debt like he has, he owns nothing. Hell, he once owed me, too."
