His lips twitch. “Why don’t you text me?”

“Because I know it drives you crazy, and because I know you’ll always come find me.”

A growl rumbles in his throat. “You know I love the chase.”

ChapterEighteen

“What do you say we head back to Tabu Dreams?” Kas asks.

“The fetish club?” I ask. He nods. “Why?”

“It’s not in town,” he says slowly, giving me a look that drips with depravity.

“I see.” My pulse spikes. “Yeah, why not?”

We leave The Hideout immediately. Kaspian’s already dressed in black—a thin sweater clinging to his torso. He probably already planned to go, but I’m in a white and blue color block shirt and a pair of blue jeans, so I have to stop by my house to change first.

Kaspian walks around to the passenger side of my truck, inviting himself to ride with me. I hesitate and stare at him through the window.

He looks amused when he watches me, his lips forming a small grin. “If you think I don’t already know where you live, you underestimate me.”

I unlock the doors and he slides in, smiling at me.

“I’m not that interesting to watch.”

“I disagree, but I’d like to request you leave your blinds open from time to time. Maybe the ones in your bedroom.”

I shake my head and start up the truck. It doesn’t take too long to get to my house, and when I pull into the driveway, I open the garage and leave the keys in. “I’ll be right back.”

Kaspian doesn’t respond.

After walking through the garage door and into the kitchen, I turn right and travel through the living room before I hit the stairs and make my way to my room. I strip out of my clothes and pull out a pair of black jeans and a T-shirt to match. I top it off with a Pologize business jacket that has a standing collar. It’s thin and nice enough to stay comfortable in all night.

After putting on my shoes, I adjust my bracelet and study the jewelry on my dresser. After a few seconds, I decide to put on the necklace with the vial pendant.

I turn off the light at the bottom of the stairs and walk back through my house and enter the garage. Kaspian’s not in the passenger seat anymore.

Stalking forward, I look around the area, wondering where the hell he went. Within seconds, I hear the crunch of dead leaves and twigs under approaching footsteps. He appears to the right of the truck, coming from the back area of the house which only leads to a handful of trees.

“What the fuck were you doing?”

“Taking a piss.” He looks me up and down. “You look good.”

“Let’s go,” I say, jumping back into the truck.

“You don’t take compliments well.”

“I could pretend, if that’s what you want, but I thought you liked me for who I really am.”

“I do.”

“Then don’t expect me to blush over your words. I can’t believe half of them anyway.”

He laughs. “I’m at my most honest when I’m with you, and you can one hundred percent believe that I find you attractive.”

I ignore him, reversing into the street. It’s quiet for a few minutes before he speaks again.

“Do you find me attractive?”
