He thought about her in the women’s locker room, wondering what she would be up to. He imagined her slim body dipping into the hot tub, and he could see every inch of her delicious body in his mind’s eye. He could see the droplets dripping down her perky breasts, gliding down her firm hips and ass.

His cock stiffened half-mast, and he had to shake the thoughts from his mind. He couldn’t come out of the locker room saluting his mate. He took a quick cold plunge before wrapping a towel around his waist and slipping back into his robe.

When he sat for his barber, he noticed Mila across the way with her attendants, and he felt a pang in his heart. Could he let her go? Could he choose his parents over his mate? What would his parents think about that?

He glanced over, watching his mate being pampered. Would she be willing to stay with him, to be his? She was a human, after all, and she probably didn’t understand what it meant to be mated. He needed to tell her … eventually.

She was sitting with her blonde hair in rollers, her hands and feet pulled in four directions as the ladies massaged her limbs and painted her nails. She had the cutest expression on her face as she chatted with the girls around her.

He needed to know more about her. Their discussion the night before was just a teaser. He wanted to know what made Mila her remarkable self. He wanted every single detail about this woman who had captivated him in such a short time.

Normally the salon was separated by gender. Since men’s treatments are very different from women’s treatments, but he had a little pull, given the price he paid. Cyrus was cheerfully seated next to her so they could have some conversation.

He was happy that she allowed him to join her. He eased into the chair, and the male attendants brought over their supplies. They had just started with his forearms when she let out a tiny, suppressed giggle because the lady working with her left foot touched just the right spot.

“Oh, you are ticklish?”

She flushed red. “Only a little. It’s funny that it even comes up. Nine times out of ten, I am immune. Having a slew of siblings means having a slew of physical assaults. I have been tickled to an inch from death.” They both laughed.

“What was it like having siblings?” Cyrus asked timidly.

“You don’t have siblings?” Her face wrinkled with surprise. He was beginning to like that about her. She was unbelievably cute, with her nose wrinkled.

“No,” he replied. “Just me and my parents.” She cocked her head but left it alone. That was not something he wanted to dive into right now.

“Well, I have three older siblings and two younger ones. My brother Tommen is the oldest; he’s married with kids already. He’s six years older than me. He was the typical eldest brother: overprotective, selfless, and strong. It wasn’t until we were adults that I learned it was a mask of concern the whole time.”

She let out a dry laugh.

“Three years after Tommen, Rowan was born. Tommen was used to being the only child, but he was so excited to be a big brother. Rowan was the typical second child. Tommen was sweet and gentle, so naturally, Rowan was wild and chaotic.”

She let out a knowing chuckle.

“He still is.”

She thought carefully before continuing.

“Next came Rhoda, about seventeen months later. She was the subject of all the smothering, being the first girl. She and Rowan were twins in their personalities, wild and free, always causing mischief.”

“But, of course, being the only girl at the time, my brothers were overprotective, my parents were overprotective, and then, as if to spite them all, I was born a year later.” She sighed as her memories were poured into her story.

“I was told that I was a good baby, and I had Tommen to look out for me since I was born. However, I looked up to my big sister every day of my life, and she became my best friend.”

“To this day, she is the one I call whenever I need good advice and solid support.” She blushed deeply. “I actually called her last night before dinner.”

Cyrus laughed while Mila broke into a huge smile.

“Two years after me, we got a baby brother, Cian. I finally got to be the big sister, and I was super excited when it was time for Cian to come home.”

“It was all Rhoda and I could do to torment Cian with dress-up and makeup and everything. The other boys always scolded us for treating him so, but they also didn’t exactly take him under their wing.”

“Kayra was the baby, born a year after Cian. She was the spoiled princess, and we all gave her all the crap for it. All in all, the family was full of love and pranks. We ate meals together and weren’t embarrassed of each other in school, but we also sometimes got sick of each other.”

“We had a decent house. We only had to double up on bedrooms, with the oldest boy and girl getting their own room. While my dad didn’t exactly make enough money to keep us living in luxury, we got by, and we were happy.”

Cyrus listened in honest fascination. He wondered what it would have been like if he had siblings. Mila made it sound so appealing. A big family. He suddenly wanted to have a large family with Mila as his wife.

He thought briefly about them living in his big house, filling the rooms with his cubs. Having her family out for gatherings. Having the cousins all playing together. It made him sad about how lonely his own childhood was.
