The suit I planned to wear Pricilla designed and made for me. The deep brown suit fit me perfectly and my heart ached for the creator. I met Ralph and Frank in the hall, and together we walked down to the throne room for Calliope’s coronation.

The young princess wore a gown made of rainbows to honor her mother and she promised to be a kind and gentle ruler like her stepfather, Old King Cole. They placed the crown upon her head and she smiled, giving a small bow to her parents.

Pricilla stood off to the side, and I watched the tears trail down her face. She should be here beside me so I could wipe them away.

“You should go talk to her, Frank.” Vincent elbowed me gently.

I shook my head. “I need to give her space.”

“Isn’t she worth fighting for?” Vincent grabbed my chin and forced me to look at her. “That’syourwoman.”

“Actually.” Ralph pointed. “That’s his womanleaving.”

Pricilla

The coronation took my breath away, and the new queen wore her gown beautifully. I noticed Frank looking at me and saw he wore a suit I made him.

I wanted to talk to him, but my stomach was a mess and I could think straight. Deciding I needed some air, I slipped from the throne room and headed outside to the expansive gardens.

The castle grounds were dark as I wandered around. I knew I couldn’t avoid Frank forever. Leaving the garden area, I headed towards the trees, finding a nice large one where I could sit for a spell.

My head dropped to my knees and I let out the sobs I’d been holding back. I cried for my mom, whom I hadn’t seen in a few months. I cried for my stupid dreams, that ended up getting me cursed. I cried for the broken heart I had. I cried because I believed my dreams could come true. I cried for the new dreams I was having. I cried because I was alone, and I didn’t want to be.

Iama coward.

Something swooped down and scared me. Then a loud scream from deep in the forest made me shiver. I heard some growling, and I jumped to my feet, tearing the gorgeous gown I was wearing to shreds.

Then I heard the voice that had changed my life and taken away my full identity.

“Imagine, if you will, my surprise at hearing that a new up-and-coming designer named Cilla Cee was going to be here.”

“Yeah, Cilla, here you are,” a male voice taunted.

“Couldn’t even face me once you got the collar off.” Tammy mocked. “Had to hide in the clouds.”

“Yeah, timid little kitty, and there’s no sanctuary to take you to this time.”

I wanted to run. I wanted to get as far away as I could.

That’s what got you here, dumbass. If you would’ve talked to Frank and told him how you felt, you would be safe in his arms right now. I need to get back to him.

“I can’t even believe you convinced someone as influential as Franklin Hammer to be with your pathetic ass.” Tammy taunted.

I heard Hera’s encouraging words in my head again and all the anger from a year ago welled up and came out in a roar. The blades of grass shook, and the ground trembled. I was a princess, born to be a queen. I wasn’t going down without a fight this time. Somewhere deep inside me, I found my courage growing.

I felt someone come up behind me, and a collar snapped around my neck.

“NO! Not again!” I reached up to take it off, but the change happened faster and I felt my gown tear from my body.

Laughter came from every direction as the same group of assholes that cursed me before surrounded me. I lunged for Tammy and she moved away.

Her eyes narrowed. “Is this what we’re going to do?”

Do not back down.A soft voice from within me spoke.

I stomped my paw, roaring again, and lunged again. She shifted and met me in the air. Swipe for swipe, bite for bite, we fought. I found courage from a place I didn’t know I had it - my heart.

We tumbled across the grounds, roars, growls, and howls echoing in the night air. Guards were running from all directions towards us. I pinned her down and had my mouth around her throat, ready to kill her.
