Christian cuts him a look. “That’s rich coming from you, brother. You were the main one who wanted to tell her.”

“And now I’ve changed my mind. She’s fucking terrified of us.”

We look over at her in the living room. She’s hugging herself and rocking back and forth, the look of someone coming to terms with their death.

“We have to reassure her we don’t want to hurt her,” I say.

“I don’t think anything else we say will convince her,” Michael points out.

It’s true. Nothing we say could possibly make her feel any better about the situation she’s in. The situation we’veputher in.

That I’ve put her in. If it wasn’t for my depraved hunger, she wouldn’t even be in this mess, and now she’s stuck with us forever.

That’s what we wanted, yes, but we wanted her to want it, too. The only reason she’s staying is that she thinks we’ll kill her if she goes to the police. I can’t speak for my brothers, but I would happily go to prison for her if it meant her happiness.

“This is fucked,” I mutter, balling my hands into fists. “Maybe we should just let her go.”

I fully expect Christian and Michael to protest, but they nod their heads in agreement, much to my surprise. We all look at her longingly.

Maybe this is what needed to happen to get us to stop because it’s gone on for far too long.

Michael’s phone vibrates, letting him know that the food is downstairs. “I’ll be back,” he says quietly before leaving through the private elevator.

Chapter 13

Brie

I’mshaking soviolently I have to take several deep breaths to calm myself down.

Get it together, Brianna,I scold myself. Now you have to figure out how to get out of here.

Christian and Josh walk back into the living room, but they stand by the TV to give me space.

“Where’s Michael?” I ask, sniffling pathetically.

Josh puts his hands in his pockets and says softly, “He went to go get breakfast.”

I shake my head. “I’m not hungry anymore.”

The two of them just stand there and stare at me, so I don’t say anything else until Michael comes back up through the private elevator with our food.

“Come to the kitchen with us?” Josh asks hesitantly.

I wrap my arms around myself and stand up. “Fine.”

They let me lead the way, and as soon as I smell the bacon, my stomach starts growling again.

Christian chuckles behind me. “I thought you said you weren’t hungry.”

“Shut up, man,” Josh scolds. I ignore both of them as I take a seat at the counter.

Michael makes my plate and sets it in front of me.

“Thank you,” I whisper before cutting into my pancakes.

The four of us eat in silence, the sounds of the silverware scraping against the porcelain plates the only noise in the room. It bothers me how normal this is, the domesticity of us sharing a meal together.

I’m literally sitting next to killers.
