They’re goingto kill him, she hopes.

Once they reach the city, he can play martyr all he wants, and she’s going to run away screaming.

She doesn’t believe for one second that he won’t hurt her.

That’s what he was designed to do. And now that she’s seen an Alpha up close, she realizes she was an idiot to doubt it.

He’s nothing but muscle, and she’s convinced his sweatshirt is a size too small for him. His scent is mouthwatering.

It’s meant to be, idiot. He’s a predator. You’re the prey.

She wonders if this is what her sweet Connor will become.

At the thought of the little boy, her heart aches and tears fill her eyes.

She can’t afford to think about him now.

She just needs to survive the drive to the city.

Hopefully, Ava got out. With their drills, they’ve perfected the ability to evacuate the city in less than an hour.

But as far as she knows, there’s never been an escapee from the military base.

She has no idea what will happen next.

“Where are you going?” she asks, watching as he turns onto a road parallel to the main part of the city. “I thought you wanted to reach the city.”

He steals a glance at her, cocking an eyebrow. “And take the main roads straight to the evacuation site? That’s cute.”

She fumes.Asshole.She absently kicks at the debris on the floor, and he notices.

“Why are there cigarettes in your car?” he asks abruptly. “Do you smoke?”

She just glares at him.

He scoffs. “You really do have a death wish.”

“Fuck you,” she spits.

He chuckles. “Time and place, sweetheart.”

Her face flames. How dare he try to make her look like the insane one? He’s the one that broke out of his military camp, talking about how he’s going to change the world with an insane God complex.

“You,” he continues, amused, “are one strange Omega.”

She wants to stomp on his boot again. Who is he to judge her?

But if she keeps talking, she’ll end up yelling at him, which isn’t the wisest move.

She just needs to survive this car ride and not engage with him.

Their proximity doesn’t help, though. His scent permeates the air, and all she wants to do is drown in it. Her body tingles in response to his aroma, and it frustrates her to no end.

She’s terrified of him, yet intrigued by him.

It’s an awful combination.

She remains quiet until they reach the outskirts of the city near an industrial area. She ignores his pointed questions, no matter how much she may want to answer them with a sarcastic response.
