What can he say? Old habits die hard.

Fear has a certain smell. It’s pungent and sour, usually mixed with the rusty scent of blood, but hers was different.

Hers was sweet, and his mouth instantly watered.

And when he pushed her up against the wall in that lab, her breath coming in pants and her heart racing, that’s when heknew.

He came to the lab with a goal in mind—to obtain as much information as he could about their activities and leak it. But he stopped with he found a recent letter of resignation in their files.

Due to recent events, I can no longer in good conscience work here.

What a surprise it was to run into the author of the letter sneaking around the lab herself.

Abel may play the part of the Alpha hero to the rest of the world, but he’s off in Canada with his Omega. Abel’s a celebrity now, doing interviews and appearing on news programs. He’s the vigilante-turned-golden-boy who started a political revolution.

But Julian is here in the United States, roaming around Washington with nothing on his mind but revenge.

He sleepsin a housing unit that’s under construction.

The sleeping bag, the cold concrete foundation, the silence, and thefreedomis so much better than his shitty bunk back in the military camp.

The construction crew doesn’t start until eight in the morning, and it’s easy for him to hide his belongings and indulge in a long hot shower before they arrive.

At only six feet tall, he can pass for a gym-addicted Beta, and even if he’s questioned, he can talk his way out of it.

And now, the only thing that matters is Audrey, and how he needs to always keep an eye on her.

The girl was tempting fate, and he’s grateful that he was the predator to find her.

After taking advantage of the halfway-built house’s plumbing, he gathers his meager belongings and formulates a plan.

He’s going to need to be closer to her, after all.

How convenient that her neighbors are on vacation.
