Compartmentalize.

Shove it into a box.

It’s been twelve hours sincehemade his unwelcome visit—and her symptoms have grown worse.

She knows it’s not the flu.

She can’t even tell Mindy what’s happened—it’s too late for that.

Besides, there’s always the possibility thathecould hurt her sister.

She just has to deal with this, and she’s done enough research to know what “this” is.

She’s presenting.

Her underwear is soaked through, and it’s the fifth pair she’s had to toss in the laundry machine. The slick smells sweet and overwhelming, like sugar and vanilla.

Every time she even breathes deeply, a new gush dribbles down her legs.

Her nipples ache, and she has to wear a loose shirt to keep the cotton from grazing them too roughly. Her breasts seem to have doubled in size overnight, and her womb won’t stop cramping.

This is a nightmare, and it’s all his fault.

She collapses back on her bed after the trek to the laundry machine and lightly rubs at the irritated skin of her shoulder. Overnight, a sensitive bump has grown, one that sends a jolt directly to her clit if touched too hard.

It’s her mating gland.

Pearl keeps watch, perching on the windowsill and slow blinking at Audrey as she groans in agony.

“And youlikedhim,” she gasps at the cat, who simply responds with another blink. “You showed him your belly, you traitor.”

A flick of a black tail and amruppis her only answer.

She wonders how long she can keep up like this—with no medication to help her, her experience will be nothing short of torturous.

If she goes to the hospital, she’ll either be placed in an Omega city under protection, or under the care of a guardian, and the only possible guardian is Mindy.

Either option is unacceptable.

She will endure.

As far as she knows, no one has died from presenting without medication; it’s just a miserable experience.

But she’s more than capable of getting through it.

She tries not to think of the Alpha that brought all this on—tries not to think of a ridiculously light blue pair of eyes and stupid, dirty blonde hair.

He’s a monster. He—

She gasps in pain as another cramp hits her, overwhelming and horrible.

She whimpers and tears fill her eyes as she curls into a ball, willing it all to go away.

When that doesn’t work, she hunches over and walks to the bathroom as she cradles her stomach. She runs a bath, letting the water turn almost scalding before she sinks in.

No matter what she does, though, she can’t stop thinking ofhim.

He said he would come back, and she doesn’t know what to do.
