“Honestly, she’s just a bitch, please leave it.” I watch as Sean and Maximus share a look, “please guys, for me,” I plead, watching them closely. Maximus is the first to give in.

“Fine, we won’t do or say anything to her or her friends.” He looks at Sean who shakes his head in defeat.

“I don’t like this but fine,” he sighs as I reach around the headrest of his seat and hug him from behind.

“Thank you, Sean.”

He looks around and I give him my sweetest smile. He rolls his eyes as he takes my hand and kisses it, which leaves a tingling feeling that races through my arm.

“You are lucky you’re so damn cute at times,” he sighs as I sit back, grinning.

“It makes up for the times you’re a brat,” Maximus chuckles looking in the mirror at me and winking.

“Hey, be nice!” I protest before chewing on my bottom lip. “Talking of being nice, please don’t tell Christian about Danielle. You know how protective he can be and there’ll be no stopping him from calling the school.” Again, Maximus and Sean share a look and I know I may have a fight on my hands. The four brothers are close and don’t hide anything from each other.

“We won’t tell him, but we won’t lie either,” Maximus answers. Sean looks at him and nods before turning around to face me again.

“As much as we understand why you don’t want him to know; you have to understand he only has your best interest at heart. Protecting you is his main priority.”

“I know,” I answer as I look at my hands on my lap. I feel my phone vibrate in my jacket pocket and pull it out to find a message from the man himself.

Christian:We’re so proud of you, sweetheart. Wish we could be there for lunch, but Jason and I are on our way to a meeting. Will you have dinner with us Wednesday evening after rehearsals? Let me know and I’ll book somewhere. Xx

Jasmine:Wednesday’s perfect. I’ll be ready by seven-thirty. Xx

Christian:Great we will see you then. Well done again. Xx

I’m still smiling when we come to a stop outside my favourite restaurant. I jump out of the car and wait impatiently for Sean to join me. I thrust my arm through his and start dragging him towards the door before Maximus can even join us.

“Princess, they’re not going to run out of food in the next five minutes,” he laughs as he pulls against me.

“You don’t know that, come on!” I protest tugging him towards the door again. I feel two strong arms wrap around my waist as Maximus pulls me away from Sean laughing.

“Shorty, if they run out of food, I will personally hunt down a chicken for you,” he laughs before planting a kiss on my cheek and letting me go. He steps beside me and casually throws his arm around my shoulders as I look at him.

“Are you ever going to stop calling me shorty? I’m only eight inches shorter than you now!” I protest. Maximus stops walking and looks me in the eye.

“Gorgeous, you could be taller than me and you’d still be my shorty,” he says in that deep voice that makes a knot form in my stomach and my toes curl. I stare into his chocolate eyes and fight every urge to lift and press my lips to his. Maximus grins like he knows the effect he has on me. He leans in and kisses my cheek, this time softly as if kissing a lover, before standing tall and leading me into the restaurant. “Now come on before they really run out of food,” he laughs as Sean walks beside us and we approach the front of house counter.

I have the best two hours with the twins. We laugh and drink champagne to celebrate another exam whilst eating so much chicken salad I think I might burst. Of course, we make room for pudding, and they insist on me having the stickiest, sweetest chocolate cake I have ever tasted. It melts in my mouth in an explosion of flavours and I could have easily eaten a second piece. Unfortunately, as always, our time together gets cut short when Maximus’s phone rings and they have to go and deal with an issue at one of their gyms.

They drive me back to the dance school and head into the car park.

“Where’s your car? I can’t see it anywhere,” Sean asks as Maximus turns the car around.

“Oh, I got a lift this morning, my car’s getting an MOT,” I answer quickly.

“Is it going to pass, that piece of shit should have been scrapped years ago!” Maximus laughs as he pulls to a stop.

“Hey, she’s not that bad!” I protest, knowing I’m lying.

“Yes, it is shorty. Let us buy you a new one, we hate you driving that thing,” he says as he looks at me but I just shake my head which earns me the usual eye-roll. It’s an argument I have with the guys at least once a month and will continue to do so until they get their own way. “Where do you want dropping off? Is your friend even still here?” he asks looking around.

“She’s inside practising, I’ve already messaged and checked,” I reply pocketing my phone before unbuckling my seat belt.

“Want me to walk you in, just in case Danielle is hanging around again?” Sean offers. I shake my head as I lean between the two front seats and kiss them both on the cheek.
