“The twins told you then,” I sigh putting my glass back on the table. He nods leaning back in his seat whilst taking a sip of his drink.

“Want to tell me what’s happening in your own words?” he asks calmly as if I actually have a choice. I take a sip of my drink and lean back in my chair hoping to seem bored and relaxed about the whole thing.

“There’s nothing to tell. Danielle’s being a bitch, not like that’s anything new.”

“From what the twins said she got right in your face the other day; do I need to call the school?”

I quickly shake my head. “No, I told her straight and she hasn’t been near me since.”

I’m not exactly lying. She hasn’t been near me. But she hasn’t been to school either and we don’t see each other at rehearsals for the time being as she is practising with the principles. “She just thinks she’s better than the rest of us because her father is rich and gets her anything she wants. The way she goes on you would think he was some sort of mafia boss,” I sigh rolling my eyes and take a sip of my drink.

“What’s her father’s name?” Jason asks frowning.

“King, well that’s her surname anyway,” I reply. I don’t miss the look between Jason and Christian. “Do you guys know him?” I ask. Both nod, but it’s Jason who answers as Christian pulls out his phone.

“He’s not as big as he likes to think he is. Everything he has is thanks to us. He owes us a lot of money.”

I can’t stop the laugh that bursts from my lips. I quickly slam my hand over my mouth from embarrassment.

“You’re serious, aren’t you? And there’s her giving me shit for being ‘poor’ all because my bag ripped once two years ago.”

“Judging by what he owes, I think we’re the ones paying for Miss King to attend your dance school,” Christian says without looking up from his phone.

“This is priceless,” I chuckle as I sit back feeling a little smug. “Please let me throw that in her face if she starts up again?” I beg as I turn to Jason, expecting him to shake his head, but instead, he’s grinning.

“Not just yet, let’s see what I can dig up first,” Christian replies as he puts his phone on the table, and looks up at me.

“How’s your mother doing since the separation?” he asks but luckily gets interrupted as the waiter comes over. We all place our food order quickly and I hope it will distract Christian from the conversation. Unfortunately not, because as soon as the waiter’s gone he looks at me and waits for an answer.

“Not great, but then I hardly see her, as I’m out so much with school and rehearsals,” I say looking at them. “How’s Tommy?” I ask. Both guys just shrug. Sometimes they are so alike in their habits and mannerisms it’s hard to believe that they aren’t twins as well.

“We don’t see or speak to him often so who knows,” Jason says as he pours three glasses of water.

“Do you think they’ll get back together?” I ask but feel that last strand of hope break when both shake their heads.

“Highly unlikely, apparently it’s been coming for a while,” Christian says as he sips his water. “Did you know she had contacted a divorce lawyer?”

I shake my head slowly as I start playing with the bottom of my top, nervously. If our parents divorce, there will be no reason for the guys to stick around anymore. I feel someone reach around and place a finger under my chin before forcing me to look up. I find myself looking straight into Christian’s blue eyes.

“What’s the matter? I didn’t realise you were that close to our father,” he asks quietly. I shake my head and try to look away, but he forces me to look at him. “Speak to me.”

“I’m scared,” I reply as I look into his eyes feeling my own starting to burn.

“Of what Jazzy?” Jason asks next to me, as he reaches over and takes my hand, under the table.

“Of losing you all,” I admit as I look between the two of them. Jason and Christian’s face softens as they look back at me.

“I told you, none of us is going anywhere, sweetheart.”

“You are stuck with the four of us if you like it or not, Jazzy.”

I try to force a smile but it’s obvious neither of them is buying it.

“Okay,” I reply wishing I could believe them. When I look up at Christian there is a seriousness in his eyes that makes me stop.

“One day soon, sweetheart, you will understand how stuck with us you really are.”
