“You going to stand there staring all day, Jazzy? Or do we get a hello kiss?” Jason calls, not taking his eyes off the screen on the desk that they are both looking at.

“How did you know I was here?” I ask as I approach them. Jason turns around smiling which lightens his grey eyes. Wrapping his arm around my waist he pulls me against him and my heart races as I place my hands against his chest. I will never get enough of this man or being held by him.

“Angel, I always know when you’re around, I can feel it deep inside me,” he says with a smirk before his lips find mine. The O’Reillys may be dangerous men and do unspeakable things to others. But for me, nowhere is as safe as in their arms.

“You know, for a big scary man who always carries at least one weapon wherever he goes, you say the sweetest things,” I smile before turning to Christian who is now facing me.

“That’s because you bring out the soft side in us baby girl,” Christian adds as he cups my cheek and kisses me sweetly putting a warm feeling in my stomach, which spreads through my whole body. As he pulls away from me I look into his eyes. I’m rarely seen without a smile on my face when I’m home. I have never had much to smile about until I had these men in my life. But they all changed that and I can honestly say I have never been happier. No matter how bad my day has gone I know that everything will be okay once I get back home.

“Want to tell us about this afternoon?” Christian asks, quickly chasing the warm feeling away.

“Layton told you then,” I sigh as I step out of Jasons arms and head to the makeshift bar they have. I used to try and have an alcoholic drink whenever we were in here, but I soon learnt my daddies won’t let me unless they’ve seen me eat a full meal and all my schoolwork is done. Yes, they treat me like a small child at times, but in their defence, for a while, I wasn’t looking after myself or keeping on top of my schoolwork. Other than my grandparents who died two years after my dad left I never had someone to teach me how to take care of myself, as my mother was too caught up in herself to care about what I was doing.

I pick up a bottle of water from the small fridge and open it up.

“Jazzy, stop stalling.”

I look at Jason and roll my eyes, quickly regretting it when I see him flash his ‘daddy’ look and I know I’m treading on thin ice.

“It’s Mum’s birthday, it felt wrong to ignore it,” I answer as I face the two of them.

“How did it go?” Christian asks, crossing his arms over his chest. The guys don’t hide their dislike of my mother. They have each told me they cannot forgive her for the years of abuse she has inflicted on me. My mother may have not always physically abused me but emotionally, there was a lot of damage done. The guys are all helping me to recover and grow. Proving to her I am not the person she made me out to be. I sigh as I put the lid on my bottle and walk over to one of the three leather sofas we have in here. I slump down and lean my head against the back.

“She wasn’t there, so I left a few bits and a note.” I close my eyes yet can still feel them approaching. Jason sits next to me as Christian perches on the coffee table in front. I realise I understand what he meant before. I can tell if one of the guys is close by. I don’t need to see them. I can tell them all apart even with my eyes closed.

Christian takes my hand and I look at him.

“You are too pure and kind for this world,” he sighs softly. I can’t help smirking.

“I think my mother would argue that.”

“Your mother is an idiot whose judgement is clouded by the substances she pumps into her body,” Jason sighs next to me as he places an arm around my shoulders. I lean against him keeping hold of Christians hand.

“I think she’s having a few good days. The house looked and smelt a lot cleaner than when we were last there,” I point out.

“That’s because we send in a cleaner twice a week. We told her it was that or she moved out.”

I look at Christian shocked. “Why did you do that?”

“Because it’s our house sweetheart and I don’t want the health board coming down on us for letting her live in squalor. Also, we are hoping it will help her to clean up her act.”

“Why haven’t you just kicked her out?” I ask, but Christian shakes his head.

“We don’t care for Carol, especially after the way she has treated you, but we would never make her homeless. That would punish you as much as her.”

I look at him for a moment before leaning away from Jason and wrapping my arms around Christians neck.

“Thank you,” I whisper as I blink back the tears. He’s right, I would never relax knowing that my mum didn’t have a roof over her head. At least if she is in the house I know she is reasonably safe.

“You don’t need to thank me, but you can tell us when you want to go and see her. I would prefer one of us was with you rather than Layton.”

I pull away from him and nod. I had expected that, but as much as I want to argue that the O’Reilly’s presence makes Mum worse, I don’t want to get into that argument either.

“Now that conversation is over with we need to tell you something.” I hear Jason say beside me. I turn to look at him frowning.

“Why don’t I like the sound of that?” I ask, my heart starting to race with panic.

“The four of us are all away tonight. The twins as you know have already left to head up to Scotland, I’m leaving for Wales in a minute and Christian will be the closest in London.”
