“Yeah?”

“That bike Mack had…”

“Yeah?”

“Would you like one like that?”

“I wouldn’t say no…but it costs a shitload of money,” he said.

“It might be going cheap.” He raised his eyebrows. “He hates the color. You could make him an offer.”

He laughed. “Still costs heaps.”

“I’m rich,” she said.

“Rich?”

“Yeah, well it depends on who you’re comparing to, but I was going to change my car…”

“And what is that?”

“A 2020 Altima.”

“Boring.” He was smiling.

“I know, right. So maybe I could get a bike and you can ride me around on it.”

“I’ll give him a call,” he said.

“Really?”

“Sure.”

They were all planning to travel to Death Valley and then LA.

“Where would you like to go, Edie?” He’d told her a lot about the Westside Skulls in Fresno…where, ultimately, he wanted to take her.

“What’s in Death Valley?” she asked.

“Heat,” he told her.

“What’s in LA?” she asked.

“Traffic.”

“What’s in Fresno?”

Xander.“Good people,” he said.
