“And where the fuck have you been the past year?” I demand.

His eyes widen—the same color blue as Dylan’s, I realize—and he rears back a little. “Umm…Kentucky?” he says with an upward lilt at the end of the word, as though checking with me that the information is correct.

Cait sighs. “This is why we haven’t told anyone yet. Because we knew you’d all get overprotective and judgey about it…”

“I don’t get overprotective and judgey!”

Ellie snorts and I turn around to shoot her an annoyed look.Judas.

“Listen, we’d really just love a little more time to ourselves before the Kelly circus arrives and starts weighing in on everything,” Cait reasons, her eyes entreating. “Can you give us that?”

“Umm…that might not be possible,” Ellie says, her voice coming out a little sheepish. “I sent out a text blast to all your brothers when we thought Jeremy was cheating.”

“Shit,” I mutter, tugging out my phone to check for any texts from my brothers. Sure enough, Ellie’s blast has already received a bunch of angry replies.

Brendan Kelly reply to Ellie Fox:What do you mean Jeremy is cheating? How do you know?

Liam Kelly reply to Brendan Kelly:What does it matter? That little shit is dead! I’m going to cut off his balls, chop them up into little pieces, cook them in a stew and make him eat it

Connor Kelly reply to Liam Kelly:If he hasn’t already bled to death from having his balls cut off

Shay Kelly reply to Liam Kelly:Jesus that’s graphic. And specific. Have you had this planned long?

Declan Kelly reply to Shay Kelly:I have a vague recollection of him threatening Mark with that the night before he married Bridie

Brendan Kelly:Wade says I’m not allowed to help with the torture plan. He thinks I’m too pretty for prison

I glance up from my phone, sending Jeremey a sheepish look. “You might want to make yourself scarce for a bit. Just until we can make sure Liam doesn’t come after you with one of his power tools.”

“Fucking hell,” Cait mutters, running a hand through her hair in obvious frustration.

“You should probably get out of here as well, Colonel Sanders,” I say to Miller, issuing him with a hard look. “Seems you’ve got a lot of practice at that so it should be pretty easy for you.”

“Finn!”Cait growls, sending me a healthy glare.

“We should go if we want to get ahead of the traffic,” Ellie says in an obvious attempt to diffuse the situation.

I draw in a deep breath and let it out slowly. Then I hand Cait the present we brought for Dylan. “This is for Dylan. I’m sorry we won’t be here for his actual birthday.”

“Thank you,” Cait says with a soft nod. I can tell she’s still upset with me, though, which is something I find incredibly unsettling.

I take Ellie’s hand and we turn for the door. Ever the peacemaker, she casts bright smiles back at the two guys, waving fondly at them. “Good to see you again, Jeremy. And Miller, it was nice meeting you.” She turns a prompting smile on me. “Wasn’t it, Finn?”

I roll my eyes. I can’t bring myself to agree with her, so I merely wave half-heartedly at the two men my baby sister is supposedly dating now. “Bye.”

“Come on, let’s go get Nate and go home,” she says, tugging at my hand.

Home.God, that word sounds so good coming from her lips.

EPILOGUE

Ellie

“Okay, nowthatwould be hot,” Finn says, nodding at the TV.

We’re watchingDirty Dancingand we’re up to the part with the “Hungry Eyes” montage, where Baby and Penny are dancing together.

I glance up from where my head is nestled against his shoulder, one brow quirked in question. “A threesome with Jennifer Grey and Cynthia Rhodes? I’m pretty sure they’re in, like, their sixties now.”
