A loud, commanding female voice cut through the chaos. Lena stepped up in the middle of the patio. “Everyone, listen up!”
They silenced and gave her their attention.
Lena continued, “We’re all thrilled for Apollo rejoining Blackout and of course making the best possible choice in bringing Indika to our big happy family! We wish you both all the happiness in the world!”
“Cheers!” Glasses of punch and bottles of water raised high in the air.
He squeezed Indika against his side and brushed a kiss on the top of her head, his heart fuller than he ever expected it to be.
“But since this is a baby shower and gender reveal party…” Lena paused dramatically as Teigen carried a huge box to the center of the patio and set it down.
Gia bubbled with excitement. She and Sparrow met in the middle behind the box and a cloud of anticipation hung over the whole group.
Sparrow couldn’t beam any more. He looked about to pop his shirt buttons with pride. “Thank you all for joining us in our celebration today. This day wouldn’t be half as joyous without you.” His gaze landed on Apollo’s.
Chest swelling, he gave his new commanding officer a nod of respect, gratitude and brotherly love.
“Now let’s do this!” Gia cried, reaching down and gripping the lid on the huge box. Sparrow placed his hands over hers.
When they whipped off the lid, pink balloons burst out of the box. All the ladies squealed and the guys applauded that their big, tough Blackout team leader was going to be a girl dad.
Indika spun in Apollo’s arms and gazed up at him with all the love in her eyes. “I never thought I’d be so happy again. Thank you for breaking down my walls and coming back to me, AJ.”
He bent over her, brushing his thumb across her cheekbone. “You’ve given me back my life in all ways. And maybe…someday…we can be opening our own box of balloons.”
She cocked a brow, lips twisting in the seductive smile he knew all too well. “Later, I’ll let you take off my dress and we can practice.”
