“Good.” She stomps off upstairs and I slam my way out the door. I stop outside with my keys in my hand.

“How the hell did I get to be the bad guy?”

I know though. Temper. I couldn’t stop being a dick long enough to find out what was going on. Plus the guy touched my sister. I saw it. And as soon as I get a chance, we’re having a little talk about treating a lady right.

By the time I get to the studio, it’s late in the afternoon on a Sunday and most of the shops are closed around her. Only her window is still shining brightly and I grunt. She should be home by now. There’s nobody around here to help her if something goes wrong. The woman needs to learn a lesson about being safe and smart.

I gingerly touch the door and anger surges through me when I see that it swings open easily. It’s still unlocked. The bell tinkles and I hear her in the other room, “I’ll be right there.”

“Fuck. Damn woman’s just asking for trouble.”

She comes skidding around the corner, a smile on her face. Which quickly slides off when she sees me.

“Why are you here?” She asks me, standing her ground, her arms crossed over her chest. That bountiful chest that I was just touching earlier. My face flushes and my eyes get stuck on her full breasts.

“My eyes are up here, Harrison.”

“I know, sorry.” My eyes jump back up to her. “I can’t help that you’ve got a really nice rack.”

I roll my eyes. “You’re actually regressing.”

“Fine. I won’t say rack again. But yours is really great.” Her blue eyes study me closely.

“Once again, what are you doing here?”

I fidget, bouncing on the balls of my feet. “I had some time to think and I might have been a little rough on you.”

“You think?”

“Yeah. I know that you were doing what you thought was best. I just wish that you’d called me. I would have come and kept an eye on that kid.”

“I had a roomful of moms and grandmas. Do you really think they needed you here? We had that. But you just wanted to be a big man and you couldn’t stop being nasty long enough to think about it. Your sister needed to do it herself. And it would have been hard with you glaring at her the whole time.”

“I wouldn’t have done that.”

“Then you tell me. What would you have done? Could you have controlled yourself and why, except for that one time, have you been treating me like I’m a damn flake? I actually have done a great deal of studying for my art. It’s my passion. I’ve taken a lot of classes at the art college just down in Hayestown. I’ve put in a shit-ton of work. And I’m not about to let it get ruined by somebody. Even you, Harrison.”

“I know you take your art seriously. I’ve seen it in how you act. But I just don’t know how to act with a woman like you.”

“A woman like me? What does that mean? Are you saying that I’m too needy, too stupid. What are you saying?”

I stalk up to her and she tilts her head way back. “I’m saying that you’re too tempting, too beautiful. You make me crazy just breathing. I can’t be around you without thinking the dirtiest damn thoughts. I had a wet dream about you last night and destroyed my bed. It’s fucking embarrassing.”

“Okay. But it wasn’t my fault. I’m just trying to keep going most days. I don’t know how to act with men. I’ve never actually dated anyone.”

“Wait! Does that mean you’re a virgin?” My eyebrows lift and I can’t think. My brain is scrambled. The thought that this woman is untouched and she could be mine has my dick trying to punch its way out of my pants. My eyes drift down and I can’t stop staring at her thick thighs and wide hips. Every damn tempting curve of her body.

And it could all be mine.

She flushes and her stunning, sky-blue eyes lock on the ground. “I guess you could say that.”

What the hell does that mean?

“Princess.” I grasp her chin and lift it. Her eyes still refuse to look at me.

“Look at me, princess.” I command, my voice firm.

She glances up out of the side of her eyes. “Yeah?”
