We walked into the elegant reception hall decorated in cream and gold. And everyone began applauding as we entered. The musicians quit playing and the man near the microphone began speaking.

“Ladies and gentlemen, may I introduce to you for the first time, Mr. and Mrs. Matteo Venturi."

Everyone cheered. And Mia grinned from ear to ear. I squeezed her hand and led her into the middle of the dance floor just as the band began playing a romantic, slow song. I tugged Mia into my arms, resting one hand on the small of her back, gently pressing her soft, warm body against mine while my other hand cradled her hand.

I led Mia in a traditional waltz, and she smirked up at me. "I didn't know that you could dance like this."

I spun her out and back to me, making her smile. "I'm a man of many secrets and many talents."

"Nottoomany. I hope," Mia teased with a sparkle in her eye.

"Just enough to keep my wife from getting bored."

"Oh, trust me, I don't see myself getting bored with you anytime soon."

"Oh, but you do see it happening eventually?" I raised an eyebrow and smirked.

"When we are old and gray, with grandchildren running around the house, I believe you will still be keeping me on my toes," she laughed.

"Grandchildren? We'd have to have children before we could have that."

"That's true."

"I suppose we should get started then.” I wagged my eyebrows at her, and her eyes widened.

"Started?"

"Well, at least we can start practicing for when we are ready to start a family."

"That's something we never really talked about...starting a family."

"And it's something wewilltalk about. When the time is right." Mia didn’t seem ready for that conversation. I guessed that our wedding reception wasn't the time or place to discuss starting a family. Besides, there would be plenty of time for that.

Once the song was done, I led Mia to our table where our wedding meal would be served.

After our meal, Mia and I stood together, watching our guests take to the dance floor while others came by to wish us well. As one of Enzo’s men moved on, I looked out at the ballroom, filled with my family and Mia’s mingling together and I felt hope for a future filled with peace instead of feuds and danger.

Vittoria stood by the bar, chatting with Enzo and a few other people while Courtney danced with one of my men.

“Do you think there’s something between them?” Mia inclined her head toward the opposite side of the dance floor, and I tried to follow her gaze.

“Who?”

“Mira and Luca.”

I scoffed and held back a laugh at the absurdity. “Mira? And Luca? How much champagne have you had?”

“What? Why is that so ridiculous? I see them together a lot. They seem close.”

“Luca is like my brother. I’ve known him my whole life. Mira too. That’s all you’re seeing.”

“Are you sure? I just think—”

“I’m sure,” I assured her before another group of guests came to offer their congratulations.

As one of my men moved away, I spotted a familiar guest approaching. Senator Ricci smiled and shook my hand before moving on to Mia. He seemed eager to speak with her which made me curious, so I did my best to focus on their conversation while filtering out the small talk of other guests coming by to shake my hand.

"Ms. Monticelli, or should I say Mrs. Venturi now?" The senator smiled and offered Mia his hand.
