“I was throwing up this morning, too.”

“You're sick? Why wouldn't you tell me that? We could have postponed the honeymoon for a little while until you were better.”

“I'm not sick.”

“I don't understand. Why didn't you tell me? Whatever is going on we could have just waited a little while until you were feeling better.”

We would have been waiting quite a while. Nine months to be exact.”

“Nine months?” Teo looked confused. I nodded.

After a moment, I could see the light bulb click on in Teo's eyes as they widened with realization. “Nine months? You mean...”

I nodded hesitantly. “I'm pregnant.”

A strange chuckle bubbled out of Teo's chest, and he grinned at me before looking concerned.

“Why didn't you tell me? How long have you known?”

“I just found out today.” I continued to explain everything that happened from the morning of our wedding to finding out about the pregnancy. My words came out hesitantly. I braced myself for the worst, unsure of how he was going to react.

“Why don't you seem more excited about this? We're going to have a baby,” Teo said with excitement. His hand slipped to my lower belly, but there was no evidence of the baby yet. “Don't you want to have children?”

“Of course, I do. I just... after how you reacted to the thought of Anna being pregnant with your child, I didn't want to make you feel the same way. I didn't want you to feel stuck or obligated.”

“You're my wife. I want to have children with you.”

“You do?”

“Of course, I do. The only reason I was so upset about Anna was that she wasn't you. I didn't love her. I didn't even remember her, then suddenly she was there claiming to be pregnant with my baby. I was afraid that the baby that she claimed was mine, would ruin what we have. I don't want anything to mess up what we have but you being pregnant? Us having a baby together? None of that is going to ruin anything. It's only going to make our lives richer and more exciting, more fulfilled. I want to have a baby with you. I love you.”

“I love you too.”

Mia was pregnant. Iwas going to be a father. The thought made me smile. But I needed to get Mia to the hospital to be checked out. I wanted to make sure that our baby was okay after such a rough landing.
