Page 4 of A Little Bit Crazy

I wish my parents had considered what I wanted when they tried to set me up. That would require that they knew me at all, though.

I need to figure out some way to put a stop to all of this matchmaking; I think, as the insurance company places me on a brief hold.Maybe if I find my own boyfriend, they would get the message. Could I hire someone to do that? Like an escort but without the sex.

That way, my parents would get the message that I don’t need or want their help picking a partner. Maybe it would scare off Tripp too.

Maybe I should just travel. That’s my dream, to be a travel blogger. I’ve lived a pretty sheltered life, though, and I’m concerned that I don’t have the street smarts to travel alone.

I bet a Navy SEAL could keep me safe…

Maybe it’s time that I took the chance though.

The insurance lady comes back on the line, and I give her my information and tell her about the accident before I pass the phone to Rhett. I listen to his deep voice as he reads off his own insurance company and policy.

“The tow truck should be here soon,” he tells me, and I wince.

“Can I give you a ride somewhere?” I offer.

“I have to go with them to the shop, but thanks.”

“I’m really so sorry.”

“It’s okay. I’m just glad that no one was hurt.”

“Me too. Here let me give you my number in case you need anything with the car.”

He passes me his phone, and I type in my number, hitting the call button so I have his too.

The tow truck pulls up, and I wait around until they have his car loaded up. My car has a dent in the front bumper, and I’ll have to get that fixed at some point, but it’s still drivable.

“Sorry again,” I say as Rhett gets ready to hop in the tow truck, and he smiles.

“No worries. See you around, Quinn.”

“See you, Rhett,” I say quietly as I slip behind the wheel of my Mercedes.

I drive through downtown traffic, letting out a sigh of relief when I pull into my parking spot outside of my apartment. My parents gifted it to me when I graduated from college. I thought it was sweet, but now I realize it’s their way of still keeping me under their thumb.

That fake boyfriend idea is starting to sound better and better.

I freeze halfway into my apartment as a wonderful idea occurs to me.

Would he agree to it, though?

THREE

Rhett

By the timeI get my car arranged at the repair shop and make it back home in my rental car, it’s close to nine at night. I’m exhausted and starving as I head into my apartment and head straight for the shower. The plan is to rinse off, scarf down some food, and then pass out.

That plan is once again derailed by Quinn Walder.

This time she’s calling instead of hitting my car with hers. I can’t believe she’s calling me, and my first thought is that maybe she felt something for me too. That thought is quickly squashed by reality.

She probably just needs something for the car insurance.

“Hello?” I answer before it can go to voicemail.

“Rhett!” She says, slurring slightly, and I become concerned.
