“I want to know everything about you. I have never met anyone like you. Ever.”

Soren leaned over and bit into the chicken wing I held.

“I eat normal food. I don’t eat spinach, though, because I hate it. That has nothing to do with me being a wolf. I can eat raw meat, too. My body can deal with it, but I don’t like eating raw if I don’t have to.” Soren took a sandwich from the basket. “I like ham cheese sandwiches.”

He took a bite from it, then offered me the next bite.

“What about chocolate?”

“Not a fan.”

I put my hands on my cheeks, acting surprised. “More for me then.”

We ate some more food and talked. I had so many questions, but each time I looked at Soren, touched him, or found myself in his presence, I forgot everything except him.

He was my home, my love, my heart.

SOREN

We returned to Yana’s home late in the night and cuddled in her bed. Spike, her cat, was suspicious of me. I woke up in the middle of the night and saw his shiny eyes focused on me, watching me. I turned my eyes red and growled at him. Her cat was a predator and acted like he had to protect my mate, but she was mine.

All mine.

I read stories written by wolves who had a mate. I saw wolves end their lives after their human mate died. But I never understood that level of deep commitment I felt for her. She was in my arms. I wasn’t chasing my own pleasure. I wanted hers. I was as happy to see her enjoy the food, and see her sleeping in my arms now, as I was deeply buried inside her.

“I love her,” I told the cat, who jumped on a chair and watched us. “I don’t mind you watching us.”

Yana moved in my arms. I watched her beautiful face. The skin on top of her nose crinkled a little when she had a nightmare, and I had this urge to jump into her dream and slay the beasts that bothered my mate.

“I am here,” I whispered into her ear.

Yana cuddled closer and mumbled something in her sleep.

My phone on the nightstand buzzed. I knew it was Torin. He texted me with a wolf emoji.

How’s howling, my brother?”

Torin loved human tech and kept calling me brother, but we were not related. He was interested in everything connected to humanity's new accomplishments.

It’s perfect. She’s perfect. Did you find any new leads on the Demon?

Enjoy your mate, brother. We are taking care of the Demon. We found out they have human collaborators.

What? They revealed themselves to humans?

Looks like it. Are you bringing her today to the house?

Yes. You all need to meet her.

Is she like Ruby?

No.

See you at the house. Bring her.

Will you all behave?
