What’s the appropriate outfit to meet a pack of wolves? And how should I feel? Fear would probably be appropriate, but all I felt was excitement. And desire to know what my mate was doing and who he shared a life with. I still knew very little about Frost Wolves and their lives. All I knew was that they shared a house.

YANA

The morning passed in a flurry, and soon I found myself on the back of Soren’s motorcycle with a helmet pressing down on my head. The helmet itself gave me a claustrophobic feeling I could not shake, no matter what I did. Instead, I tried to focus on the pleasant hum that travelled from the motorcycle through me.

My mind had not wrapped itself around the concept that since I was mated with Soren, I won’t age anymore, and my healing process would be accelerated. It didn’t work out that great for Granny or my mother.

The day was nice and warm, a typical late summer day. The ride was pleasant, even though I kept my eyes closed most of the time and pressed my face against Soren’s back. Soren took a side road off to the right. I wasn’t sure what I expected. I pictured something like a frat house, probably a male-type dwelling, but I never expected that.

We stopped in front of a damn mansion. Tall, white, with a small fountain in the front. It looked like something out of a fairy tale.

“This is a joke, right?”

“What did you expect? A dirty frat house?”

Soren parked the motorcycle, took my hand, and led me up the front stairs. He pushed open a large white door and ushered me inside. The foyer was covered with marble and mirrors. A large staircase stood to the right.

My head spun as I tried to take in the house’s beauty. The fuck. This was just… damn… wow. I found myself spinning in the air, the room turning with me.

“Finally.” A laugh shook the wolf who had me in his arms and twirled me around.

“Torin, put my mate down,” Soren growled from deep inside his chest.

The beast, who looked even bigger and more imposing than Soren, put me back on my feet. I grabbed his jacket to steady myself.

Soren was right next to me, wrapping his arms around me.

“If they all do this, I’ll need a bucket.”

Torin laughed, then took my hand and lifted it to his lips. “Torin, at your service.”

“Yana. Nice to meet you, even though I have a feeling you know me already.”

Torin shook again with laughter. At first sight, he looked like a doom and gloom biker, but the smile came naturally to him, and he had a joyful disposition.

“Let’s get you into the wolf’s den, shall we?”

Soren pulled me close to him, his arm leaning over my shoulders. “Are you okay?”

“Yes, darling. I don’t scare that easily.”

“Protective he is,” said Torin in a great Yoda impersonation. “She’s my sister now, Soren. You know that.”

The two hugged. I was sandwiched in the middle, inhaling that wild, manly scent they shared.

“I need some air,” I called out from between the large chests.

“Sorry, little one. You’ll get used to wolf hugs.”

“Aren’t there bear hugs?”

“Yeah. I know a few bear shifters, but when those dudes hug you, your ribs crack.”

I threw Soren a what-the-actual-fuck look, then allowed Torin to keep going.

“There are many things out there. But we’ll keep you safe, sis.”
