I need to do this. I need to see what’s out there and figure out what I want. I owe it to myself. No more compromising for others.

“Who are you going to go with?”

I smile widely. “I’m bringing Etta. We’re going to have a girl’s trip. Maybe start off in Italy or something.”

He laughs again. “Perfect. Come find me when you’re ready.”

“I promise, Killian. I will.”

EPILOGUE

Eight months later…

Traveling through Europe had been an incredible experience. Not only had I learned about the world outside of the US, but I’d also gotten to know some amazing cultures.

And I met so many new people.

It had helped that Etta had been by my side the entire time. Her charm won over everyone so easily. She got us into many exclusive parties and adventures that wouldn’t’ve been possible if it wasn’t for her. It made me happy that I’d gotten to spend so much time with my best friend.

Around a month into our travels, I noticed people following us. Which naturally set alarm bells off in my head.

Once I realized what was going on, it made me laugh.

It’d happened one night at a salsa bar. A group of Killian’s men were trying to act natural while blending in with the tango dancers. It had been something that I truly would never forget.

My worrying for Killian moving on hadn’t been a secret, especially with Etta. Between him and my brother—who occasionally sent men to watch us too—I felt like I truly hadn’t been forgotten.

It was a good sensation.

Now, I’m back in the States. With eight months and twelve destinations behind us, Etta and I are at a bar in Vegas sipping on our favorite cocktails.

“I can’t believe we’re doing this a second time,” Etta tells me.

I can’t help but laugh and agree. “I know. But this time, I’m actually ready.”

She smiles at me, throwing her arm around my shoulders to pull me into a side hug.

“I’m happy you’re happy, Nells. You deserve it.”

The past few months had been outrageously fun. But saying goodbye to Killian had been unbearably hard. I didn’t know when I’d see him again, or if he’d move on while I was on my adventure. My only solace was him sending men to watch over me. It reminded me that no matter how far I’d gone, he'd always find me.

It’s been a comforting feeling.

I’m proud of myself and the woman I’ve slowly started to become. She’s damaged, sure, but tough on the inside, unlike how I’d been when all of this had first started.

“Nell, why don’t you just call so we don’t have to wait here all night?”

I smile into my glass, downing the rest of my martini.

“It’s more fun this way.”

I knew the second I stepped back on US soil that Killian would know and come find me. It had been inevitable at that point.

All of the signs were pointing to the words I so desperately wanted to hear from him.

Next to me, Etta perks up and smiles at something behind me.

I know exactly what she’s looking at.
