“But you’re planning to pay him…to pay Leah’s debt?” I needn’t have asked. The answer was all over his face as he averted his eyes from mine once again.
“I have to. She’s in a lot of trouble this time.”
“What kind of trouble?”
“I d-don’t want to go into it right now, baby girl. I’m sorry. I know that’s shitty, but I just…I’m wiped out for today,” he confessed.
“It’s okay. I understand, but will you promise me one thing?” I requested.
“Tell me,” he urged with a nod.
“Promise me you won’t go to meet Leah, or whoever these people are you’re going to pay, without at least telling the guys. You can’t do this alone again Grey. I agree with Nan – I can’t lose you. None of us can. We need you.”
“I promise,” he whispered as he leant in towards me. “Can I kiss you, please? I need you.”
“I need you too,” I agreed, and then his lips were crashing against mine, his kiss more ferocious and desperate than any I had ever experienced – not that there had been many.
Our teeth smashed together as we frantically grabbed at each other, then his tongue plundered my mouth as he grabbed me around the waist and pulled me so tight against his front I could feel every hard inch of his body against mine.
“Sorry,” he gasped as he pulled back eventually. “I shouldn’t have done that. We’re supposed to be going slow.”
“Sod bloody slow, Grey. I was terrified today that I would lose you. I don’t want slow anymore. I just want you…a-all of you. I want us. No more hesitating or feeling unsure,” I almost growled, and I was so relieved when a small smile turned up the corners of his mouth.
“You’re sure about this?”
“Yes. I’m not sure about much in my life r-right now, but I know I want this. I w-want all of you.”
“Thank fuck for that,” he laughed as he pulled me into his arms and pressed his lips to mine again, this time in a shorter kiss.
“You’re bleeding,” I told him when he pulled back again, and I realised for the first time that he had a split lip we’d obviously reopened in out fervour.
“It’s fine.”
“No it’s not. Are you hurt anywhere else?” I pressed as I pulled back from him and tried to clear my lust fogged brain.
“No. Just my ribs and my face.”
“I’ll get the shower started for you. You n-need to get cleaned up then we’ll see if we can do anything to dress your injuries,” I suggested.
“You coming in with me, baby girl?” he asked, and when I glanced to him he was waggling his eyebrows up and down suggestively, making me smile.
“While I like the idea, you’re hurt and Nan will be expecting us to be there to eat soon.”
“No fair,” he pouted, making me smile.
“Rain check?” I asked, even as the thought of being naked in the shower filled me with both excitement and trepidation. Was I really ready for that?
“I’ll hold you to that.”
“You do that,” I agreed with a smile. “Now what should I get out of the first aid box while you shower?” I asked as I headed into the adjoining bathroom and turned the knobs to get the shower going. I had plenty of experience at nursing my own injuries from my childhood, but I had never had proper first aid supplies to do so before.
“Nothing, Blake. There’s nothing you can do for a split lip and some bruises. They just need time to heal,” he told me as he stopped me from going into the cupboard under the sink for the supplies. “I really am okay, baby. I mean, it fucking hurts knowing what Leah is living through and it fucked me up to leave her, but I know I can’t do anything to help her. Not yet, and until she’s ready, knowing I have you is helping a fuck of a lot.”
“You’ll always have me,” I promised him as I reached up onto my tiptoes, gripping him for balance as I leaned in for another kiss. This one was just a chaste peck, as I didn’t want to hurt his lip further. “I still want t-to look after you,” I sighed as I pulled back.
“You do, just by being here. There’s nothing else to be done. I’ll just wash up, grab some food, then sleep for a while. I’ll be fine by tomorrow,” he shrugged.
“Get in the shower and I’ll f-find you something for the pain at least,” I suggested, and he nodded, then leaned into kiss me again, this time on my temple.
