“What was her? What the fuck is going on?”

“She wants you,” I told him. “She wants me gone b-because she thinks you are hers. She caused Dad and Trent’s accident. She h-hit me with the car, Declan. She chained up my doors and s-set my room ablaze. It w-was her all along and I helped her by inviting h-her around.”

“What? No! It can’t be. I’ve never…we’ve never…I don’t see her like that,” Dec stuttered.

“Yeah. I think that may be the issue,” I sighed as I pulled so hard on the ropes that I saw blood appear beneath them. “Bollocks! They won’t come loose!”

“Blake! Fuck! Just stop!” Declan hissed. “You’re hurting yourself. You’re bleeding.”

“I’m okay. We have to get out of here. Luca won’t come looking for us until the session should be finished,” I cried as I looked around me for something to free myself, but there was nothing but the table and chairs we were in, and one other empty chair.

“Are your feet tied?” Declan asked.

“No.” I stood as I realised what he was going to suggest, but the chair was so heavy I could barely lift it.

“Just lift the chair enough to smash it down behind you. If you can break it…”

I did as he said, but the chair would barely lift, let alone smash down hard enough to break.

“It’s t-too heavy. Can’t you do the s-same?” I asked as I used every bit of strength I had to try again.

“I can’t. My feet are tied to the legs, even if I could stand, which I’m not sure I can right now. She must have pumped a ton of volts through me. My whole fucking body feels like Jell-O,” he explained.

“Maybe I c-can drag the chair up the stairs. Where are they?” I asked as I looked around me for an exit, but I froze when I heard the creak of a door at the far end of the room, then Fiona was there, striding in and slamming it closed behind her. She was dressed as neatly as always, in jeans and a gym branded polo t-shirt. She wore her neatly applied make up, and there was not a hair out of place. Were it not for the unhinged smirk on her face as she walked towards us, I would think I had imagined what had happened before.

“Fiona, just l-let us go. This is crazy,” I cried.

“Can’t do that.” When she got to the table she lifted my seat with a strength I wouldn’t have imagined her capable of, and shoved me back at the table until I was sat before it, like we were going to enjoy a meal or something. “I tried to do this the easy way, to get you away from him in a way that kept him out of it, just like before, but you wouldn’t fucking die,” she growled as she grabbed the back of my neck and slammed me unnecessarily into the table again. She pressed down on my neck until I bent over the surface, then my chest was smashed so hard into the edge of the table that it knocked the air from me.

“Get the fuck away from her!” Declan raged as I coughed and spluttered to try and catch my breath.

“You don’t want her!” Fiona screamed at the top of her lungs. “Me! You want me. I’m going to prove it to you!” She moved both of her hands behind her back, then pulled out two handguns which must have been tucked into the waistband of her jeans. She slammed them both down on the table, then sat in the empty seat to my right, placing herself between Declan and I.

“Before,” I gasped as I looked from Dec to Fiona. “What d-did you mean ‘like before?’” I had to know, because I had a suspicion and it was terrifying me.

“Declan is mine!” She growled. “He knows that, don’t you?” she leaned forward and ran a finger over Declan’s chest as she gazed into his eyes.

“Do not fucking touch me!” Declan spat angrily.

“He knows,” she went on as she sat back and looked to me with a smarmy smirk on her face. “ He just gets distracted by little fucking sluts like you and that bitch Hailey. He needs me to keep his attention focussed where it should be.”

My eyes shot up to Declan as I realised what I feared was most likely the truth. Declan had clearly worked it out too, because he was staring at me with utter horror and shock.

“You h-hurt Hailey,” I accused as my eyes shot back to Fiona. How the hell had I not seen her crazy shining through? I was so stupid. I had thought she was my friend! I had confided in her about the guys!

“She was much easier to get rid of,” Fiona sneered. I looked to Declan and saw he had gone even paler as he glared at Fiona. “A few sleeping tablets in her coffee and she was out cold. All I had to do was wash a ton more down her throat while she was out of it, and write that note. The emails I’d been preparing for months helped sell the rest and – hey presto! Declan was all mine again. At least he was until you arrived.”

“You killed Hailey?” Declan gasped. His eyes were glassy with tears and I could see his entire body was rigid and taut.

“I had to Declan. She was trying to come between us. I had to prove to you that I mean more than they ever could,” Fiona reasoned. She tried to reach out for Declan again but his whole body recoiled back so violently that the entire chair jumped back.

“You mean nothing to me, you psycho bitch!” Declan spat.

“That’s why we’re here,” she replied flippantly. “I’m going to show you that you and I are destined to be together. I’m going to prove it.”

“There’s no need for this Fiona,” I told her as calmly as I could, despite the adrenaline surging through my body. I had no idea how long Dec and I had been out, but I was hoping we could stall whatever she had planned, long enough for Luca and Lewis to come looking for us. “I-if you want Declan, you c-can have him. I didn’t know that he was yours. If I d-did I would never have…”

“Spare me, Blake. It’s too late now. You forced us to this point. Now I’m going to prove once and for all that Declan and I are soul mates; that we are meant for one another.” Fiona picked up one of the guns from the table as she spoke and pointed it at me. I gasped as the very real possibility, that this was where I met my end, hit me hard. Fiona was unhinged! She had already killed Hailey and I had no doubt she intended to kill me next.
