"Next week, sir."

“Thanks a lot for this information. Don't contact me till I do.”

"Okay, bye, Sir."

After the call ended, Jasper sank into his bed with numerous thoughts in his head. The main reason for his refusal of his father's inheritance was because of her; he found out that after his deed, she developed a little phobia for extremely rich people. Figuring out that she would want to live a peaceful life like her parents without having much attention drawn to her, he decided to take the path he took. But with her decision to come to NYC, he would have to reconsider his decision; he would try to convince her that not all rich men are bad.

Picking up his phone again, he called back the odd number that had called him. On picking up the call, he made his request, or more correctly, placed his order.

“Send me a recent picture of her tomorrow.”

"Okay, Boss."

“Find out the exact date of her travel and let me know.”

"Yes, Boss." With that, Jasper ended the call.

Sighing numerous times like an old man, he fell asleep. The next morning, while he was planning on submitting his resignation letter, his father was planning on taking back his words. No matter how stubborn and extraordinary his son may be, he was still his son, and there was nothing anyone could do about that.

Going to the main office, Jasper submitted his resignation letter.

"Before we approve your resignation letter, you have to tell us the main reason why you are resigning." The president of the company said it was obvious that the man was trying to hide his shock. He had struggled alongside the board of directors to employ a smart and fresh graduate like this when other companies were trying their best to snatch him away from their grip.

"If other companies are offering you a higher salary than us, we'll make sure to increase our pay," he added. He couldn't afford to lose such an asset; he would make sure to find one excuse or the other to retain him.

"My dad wants me to take over from him," Jasper said.

“Your dad?” The President asked.

"Yes, my dad."

“If I may ask?”

“You may.”

"May I know the name of your dad or his company?" He was merely curious as to why he would come to work for his company if his dad had his own company unless his dad's company wasn't flourishing.

"Mr. Valentino Maruda." Jasper said casually, but the shock the president felt was enough to knock him out of his seat.

"You are… you are Jasper Valentino, the son of Mr. Valentino?" The man asked, purely shaken. Why didn't he think about this before? He saw the name and the uncanny resemblance, but he took it as pure coincidence.

“Mr. Jasper, I’m sorry I couldn’t recognize you earlier.” He said with a deep bow.

"You don't need to be so formal with me; I'll make sure your company cooperates with mine; I can see how honest and hardworking this company is. Am I free to leave now?"

"Yes, sure, you are free. Thank you, sir!"

Leaving the company, he arrived at his father's residence. Before he would tell the guards standing outside to permit him to see his father, he was offered free entrance inside.

"The chairman took his word back." One of the guards answered his unasked question.

"I see." He said and walked inside.

“Good afternoon, Dad.”

“The prodigal son is back, isn’t he?” His dad asked with a smirk.

“I’ll go straight to the point.”
