Jane laughed out loud, looking at the unbelievable scene in front of her. She knew she wasn't supposed to laugh at such a moment, but she could not help it. At first, it was a laugh of unbelief, then slowly, it turned into one of bitterness before she started crying hard.

“You should have continued with your life by staying far away from me!” She yelled at him.

"I'm sorry, Jane. Please forgive me," Jasper, who didn't know what else to say except that, kept on repeating it, and she cried harder.

“You think this is the right moment to apologize?”

“I am really sorry," he replied with his head still bowed.

"What happened to do this back then, even after two months? You didn't come to apologize; all you did was threaten our lives and send your minions to stalk me!" She shouted in anger, holding her hair, not knowing how to contain the excess anger she felt.

"I tried doing that, Jane," Jasper, who finally raised his head to show his teary face, said.

"You tried doing that? If you really tried doing that, then you could have stopped your henchmen from always stalking me!"

“Please forgive me," he pleaded again but got another slap in the face at that same spot.

He felt his face sting and could taste a warm metallic liquid in his mouth, which he knew was blood, but he didn't dare touch it. He could tell that she used all her energy to hit him. If she wanted to vent the pent-up emotions by slapping him, then there was no problem with that; he would let her hit him to her satisfaction.

"Please forgive me, Jane. I know it's hard to do, and what I request may be unreasonable, but I still plead for your forgiveness," he begged again, bowing every now and then.

Seeing how pitiful he looked, Jane broke down in tears; she sat down on the floor crying more loudly than she had ever cried in her life. She could not afford to hold a grudge now after looking at the man who made her life miserable all these years.

Seeing her in this position, Jasper felt awkward; he didn't know how to console her as he knew he was and was the reason for her current state. He only muttered apologies in the hope of getting forgiven.

"I... umm," she said and suddenly cleared her throat. He knew she was doing it to catch his attention. "You were saying something?" Jasper asked.

"Yes. I have forgiven you," she said.

"Huh?" Not knowing if she was being serious or just kidding, Jasper pretended not to hear her, just to have her say it again.

"I said you're forgiven."

"Ooh, thank you so much. Thank you."

"But..." She drawled, stopping him from thanking her any further.

"But?" He asked, not knowing why his body suddenly tensed up.

"I've forgiven you, but you will have to obtain my parents' forgiveness too," she said weakly, to see him nod.

Deciding to lie on the floor of the office, Jane felt empty within her. But it was a good feeling as all the burdens of grudge, bitterness, and regret within her disappeared. She felt relieved.

"Does it hurt?" She asked, referring to the injury she inflicted on Jasper.

Feeling touched by her question, he shook his head. But when he noticed that she was lying down and couldn't see him, he said, "It doesn't hurt. I deserve more than that for doing the terrible thing I did."

"Earlier on, you said you tried doing what I said, right?" She asked, her voice weak.

"Yes, I tried."

"I would like to hear everything that happened if you don't mind," she requested, and he obliged.

He took his time to tell her everything that happened immediately after he raped her. How he came to her place several times to apologize but couldn't. Only to end up being transferred to the city she lived in by his father. He told her how he tried to avoid her but still ended up meeting her anyways. Stories of how he decided to change from his evil ways and how difficult he was.

He apologized again before telling her how he would stalk her helplessly, wanting really hard to talk to her, how he would cry alone in an attempt to lessen the burden he felt. The tales of refusing to succeed his father and how he accepted because he needed to help her get a job and his involvement in her getting a job.

In all, he told her, he made sure not to add the part of his feelings towards her so as not to freak her out.
