Chapter Twelve

Declan

Then

Will slows the carto a stop. I’m waiting on the sidewalk and hop in.

“How’s it going?” he asks, looking over at me.

“Good. You? Anyone try to kidnap you today?” I smirk.

He shoots me a look. “No.”

I shake my head. “Of all people to target you – you lucky bastard. How did you get the most gorgeous woman in the world? She’s just been playing on a loop in my head.”

Will looks pained. He points at me. “She’s trouble. Don’t think about trying to contact her.”

I’m absolutely not making that promise. I’ve been thinking about how I’m going to contact her since I left his apartment the other night.

He changes the subject. “Excited for this game?”

“I’ve been looking forward to it all week. I’m glad you decided to stop working for a minute and actually have some fun.”

Will grunts. “When do you stop all of your fun to actually do some work?”

I chuckle. “You’re just jealous.”

Idowork. I just don’t talk about it all the time.

My phone buzzes and I look down. “Uh-oh.”

I glance over to Will – maybe I shouldn’t have said anything.

“What?”

I shut off my phone. “Nothing. Let’s just go to the game and not worry about it.”

The light turns green. Will’s still staring at me. The car behind us honks.

“What is it?” He drives forward.

“Just another NokNok video.” Olivia stopped trying to handcuff herself to Will and has started terrorizing him online instead. God, I’d hate being a politician.

Will sighs. “Well, she’s putting out like one a day. What’s another one?”

I don’t reply.

“What?” He pulls into the parking lot of a grocery store.

“It’s going mega-viral.” I hand him my phone.

“Shit.” He rubs between his eyes. It’s only been posted a few hours, and it has twenty million views.

The caption reads: William Sterling is a derp.

I’m suppressing a smile – poorly.
