“It’s heavy. It’s only because there are a lot of them.”

“What exactly is…them?”

“Candles,” she said, pulling the door shut.

“What?”

“Candles. Made from the highest quality wax I could find. With scents straight from the source. Potent, effective, and they never lose their smell. Dry, they give off a subtle smell. Lit, they fill the room. And the scents? Exotic.”

I touched my bag. “I have an entire marketing campaign for your health bars, Sabrina. And now you want to sell candles? Do you realize how hard it is to sell candles?”

“Probably the same as selling health bars.”

“Health bars are eaten and need to be purchased again. Candles… what’s the burn time on them?”

“They last forever.” Sabrina laughed. “Not literally. But they do last months. Maybe longer.”

“Sabrina, this changes everything. I don’t…”

I sighed.

Sabrina touched my shoulders again. “I can sense it, April. You’ve fallen in love. With a man who you’ve been made to believe was the wrong man. But the heart knows what it wants. The heart always knows. What you’re going to have to do next? Fight. Fight for that love. Let your heart and body be free.”

Before I could respond, my phone beeped with a text.

I looked.

It was from Steph.

My boss wanted to talk to me, right now.

“How’s the beach, huh? Catching some waves? Drinking some fruity drinks? Looking at the good-looking guys out there? Huh?”

Dale was a pig.

A pig who could get away with anything and never get fired.

He oversaw certain projects and departments.

Nobody really knew what he did though.

He just made phone calls, made crude jokes, pissed everyone off, and he loved to yell.

“I’m working, Dale.”

“Oh, she’s sad. Stressed. Not easy being on the road, huh?”

“I never said it was.”

“How’s it going down there?”

“Honestly, Dale? She’s a nightmare. I’m not sure what she’s paying but it’s not nearly enough. She can’t keep herself focused on one thing.”

“So let her run off on tangents. Do the work. Be quiet about it.”

I gritted my teeth. “Sound advice.”

Dale burst into a fit of cackling laughter.
