She sighed and sagged into him a bit. Suddenly flustered, suddenly turned on, her senses heightened, her body quivering. She couldn’t prevent the wanton sigh that escaped her lips.

“Penny?” Lyle breathed, rubbing his chin up her neck now, nibbling her earlobe. “Or what, Penny?” His hand skimmed her stomach under the robe.

“I…” Her eyelids fluttered closed. She felt the wetness pooling between her legs, the rush of heat in her core. “Or… I…” she heard herself slur.

Lyle’s chest rumbled with satisfaction. “Yeah,” he said, his hand coming around her to her breasts. He darted his hand under the robe and fastened onto one of her boobs. He wasn’t gentle.

And she gasped out loud.

It hurt. Not hurt exactly, he slacked off, but squeezed and rubbed again. It felt so good. So incredibly pleasurable, but also bruised, so sensitive. She felt it building within her. Like there was a cord between her nipples and her clit and he’d tugged and it had all tightened. Tightened so much it hurt.

“Yes, Penny,” Lyle hissed. His other hand went down to her clit. He skimmed it, then dipped his two fingers into her core gently. Then immediately worked her clit again. Penny was fully reclined on Lyle’s body now, facing the mirror, his body solid and warm behind her. She came, of course, just like that, like he’d snapped his fingers. Like liquid caramel being poured from a jug. No boiling involved. Just effortless sluicing. No angst, no stress, just simple, pure pleasure. She gasped and trembled and felt intense tightening and releasing.

“Penny, baby. Yes, you’re so good to me,” Lyle held her, rocking the flat of his palm against her clit to capture the intensity of the after spasms.

She spun around in his embrace and kissed him. Really kissed him. Hands in his hair, lips sealing around his. Like how they’d kissed in the ice cream parlor a lifetime ago. Body to body, flat and flush, the world closing in around them until it was only them, in an igloo made by the fire and ice of their kiss. His tongue and her tongue, his mouth and hers. Dancing together. Like she’d never kissed anyone else before. Like she’d never felt this way before.

She whimpered and he slowed and pulled away slightly. She truly hadn’t felt this way before. This man, this jigsaw puzzle of a man, with some of the pieces missing. Gnarled around the edges. Like an old book, dog-eared and with some of its pages missing. But still a gem of a read.

“Get back to bed Penny, you need your sleep, we’ll leave first thing in the morning,” Lyle whispered huskily.

Penny nodded and let him steer her out of the bathroom. She took a few sleepy steps toward the bed. “Wait, leave first thing… to go where?”

“Doctor.”

“What? But…” Penny’s heart started pounding very fast. Very loud. Deafening in her ears. Fluttering in her chest. It couldn’t have happened already? Could it? Did she feel any different? She bit her lip. Yes, she did. She felt something pulling, like she’d just trapped a wispy hair on her waistband, a tiny tug. An effort to her breathing already. A tiredness that wouldn’t shift with sleep, once it did finally come. Hunger in between meals.

This wasn’t how she imagined it going. Up in the middle of the night with a naked, alcoholic, MC member, while two others lay in the bed, too, outside the door. After a night of debauchery. One of many nights of debauchery. She had imagined baby-making would be some sort of, lights off, socks on and straight-laced type of event. Not the screaming, juddering ride she had been on recently. Yet here she was, facing this man, this alcoholic biker with the bottomless black eyes, realizing she was pregnant. And it could be his. But it also could be the other two guys on the bed fast asleep. And were any of them the type of man she thought would be fathering her child? That was a big fat no. But did she actually feel like she had every confidence in them being there by her side to father her child? Yes. Did she believe they would make excellent fathers? Yes. All three of them. Each bringing something to the table. Each bringing something to her. And each other. It was unconventional, but it would work. Penny knew it like she knew the sky was blue.

Lyle cleared his throat. “Urine test, Penny baby. Blood test. I know what it is I’m looking at. I sense it, I can tell.” Lyle’s eyes sparkled like black gemstones. “There are some pregnancy tests in the first aid cupboard, in the kitchen, you should do one, but I know. I’m one hundred percent certain. You’re pregnant.”

“So, see you tonight?” Lyle grasped her wrist, pulled her back into his room for another kiss. Penny bumped into his chest and let his lips sloppily seal around hers. She stood in the doorway and returned the kiss, as hard and as passionately as he gave.

She’d gotten up with Ash and Nix. Lyle hadn’t had another night terror. She’d had breakfast, showered, got ready. She’d felt a flutter in her belly, probably her own imagination. But something was there. A little tug. A little weight, another little life. It wasn’t what she imagined and yet, it was. It was subtle but beautiful, a magical little secret she wanted to cherish and whisper quietly, only to Lyle. But at the same time, an achievement she wanted to shout from the rooftops. Something she wanted to stay calm about, and something she wanted to squeal with excitement about.

Nix and Ash had gone about their day unaware. She’d stayed until Lyle had woken up. And now she really had togo into the office and get some work done.

“Yes, I’ll be back tonight…” she had started to say back.

“My office. Now,” came a growl from behind her. She pulled away, startled, to see the glowering face of the MC President, Colt, behind them. His eyes flicked from Lyle to her, and Penny couldn’t help but feel trouble was coming.

* * *

Lyle sashayedinto Colt’s office, loping casually, too casually, and plonked himself down on the chair in front of the desk, swinging it from side to side. Penny knew he was being purposefully difficult. Penny herself slipped into a chair by the side, having a profile view of both men.

“We’re banning sweetbutts,” Colt said, his voice steel.

Lyle stared back and shrugged. “‘Kay.”

Colt flexed his jaw. “That’s how you were getting your hands on alcohol, wasn’t it? You had bottles stashed away, they’d bring it in, and sneak it to you, and you’d refill your beer bottles with something stronger.”

Credit to him, Lyle kept his chin up and shrugged again. But his pulse jumped erratically in his throat, Penny could tell, the pit had dropped out of his stomach. She hadn’t told Colt, Ash must have told Colt. It was probably the right thing to do but…Penny dreaded what was going to happen next. Because whatever it was, it wasn’t going to be pretty.

“Well, ‘cause of your little stunt, no more sweetbutts, Lyle. No loose women coming in to the club and fucking us. Jared and Sully are pissed at you. I haven’t broken the news yet to Rafe, and can you imagine Carmelo’s face-”

“Is that all?” Lyle drawled lazily.

Penny saw a vein ticking at Colt’s forehead.
