“Why don’t you go find the fucking truck and get my granddaughter her fu–” my father continues.

“Mr. Santoro,” Mia gasps, rushing into the room with Giulia in her arms. The men acknowledge Mia as she walks by. She smiles politely as she walks over to my father and me.

“Stress is bad for you,” she says, taking the phone from him.

Only Mia, Felicity, and now Giulia have the power to take something away from my father without consequence. He absolutely adores Mia and Giulia as much as he adores Felicity. From day one of Mia and my father meeting each other, they hit it off. I had been worried he wouldn’t like the fact she wasn’t Italian; however, he surprised me and welcomed her into the family with open arms. He was even the one who pushed us to get married. I thought it was because he found out Mia was pregnant, but turns out, he just liked her and wanted me to settle down.

“They’re saying Giulia’s present won’t be here today,” my father explains.

“It’s okay,” Mia smiles. “Giulia is happy with the millions of other toys she has.”

Mia side-eyes me. I shrug and my father laughs.

“A baby can never have too many toys,” my father says, holding out his arms to Giulia, who eagerly bounces up and down trying to get to him.

“Nonno! Nonno!” Giulia shouts.

“Come here, my baby,” he replies, taking her from Mia.

“Spoiled,” Mia giggles. “Absolutely spoiled rotten.”

“She’s my piccola principessa.”

“Well, please, be careful carrying your piccola principessa. She’s heavy,” Mia waves a finger at him and gives him a knowing look. He isn’t allowed to lift anything heavy for a while.

“My principessa isn’t heavy. Are you Giulia?” he says in a cute little voice. The guys in the room try to not laugh, but The Godfather talking in a cartoon voice is fucking hilarious. The first time I heard him do it, I nearly died because I was laughing so hard.

“Nonna, swing?” Giulia asks, pointing out the window.

Her favorite place is on the swing I bought Mia when we first got together. Giulia likes to sit on someone’s lap while they swing. I bought her a swing of her own made for babies, but it wasn’t good enough. She prefers to be the pampered princess and be held on the swing.

“Of course. Anything for my baby,” he says, carrying her out of the room. He has lost all interest in the meeting and has forgotten about the delayed toy delivery. Swinging with Giulia is the only thing on his mind.

I laugh and sit back down in my chair. The guys follow suit and take their seats.

“I’ll leave you, gentleman, to it,” Mia smiles and turns to leave. I pull her on my lap. She giggles and wraps her arms around my neck. “You are in a meeting, Mr. Santoro,” she whispers in my ear.

“And, you are more important, Mrs. Santoro,” I say softly, kissing her cheek. The guys smile and Mia blushes.

“Nico,” she warns faintly.

“Okay. I’ll behave,” I whisper.

“Let me go so you guys can get back to business and I can go keep an eye on your father so Giulia doesn’t become a completely spoiled tyrant.”

“Fine,” I laugh and lean over to her ear. “But later, you’re mine.”

She kisses me swiftly on the lips.

“Always. And forever,” she smiles. “Gentleman.”

“Mrs. Santoro,” the guys reply in unison.

Mia holds the phone up to her ear as she makes her way to the door.

“Hello? Still there?” she asks. “Where the hell is my little girl’s toy!”

With that she leaves the room, closing the door behind her. The room erupts with laughter including mine. Mia’s feistiness and potty mouth have increased over the months. I blame it on her spending time with Felicity. However, Mia seems happy so that’s all that matters.

“You sure have a great wife, Boss,” Gregg chuckles.

“That I do. The absolute best,” I grin. “Now, let’s get this meeting started so I can get back to my family.”

Family. The best word in existence. A word I always knew held value since I was little, but now I truly cherish the word. Mia and Giulia are my world. They make me want to be a better man and prove to them just how much I love them. There’s nothing I would change about the life I have, except maybe another little one. And, if I’m lucky, Mia and I can work on that tonight.
