Gabriel might only be running late. Maybe he got caught up with something Professor Mallows ordered. But he is going to quit after returning the car. He doesn't need to run any errands for them anymore.

Just when the elevator door opens, a notification sounds from my mobile phone. It is an email from Uncle Vigo. Why an email? Uncle Vigo is not the type who sends messages through emails. I open the message and get more confused. The message was a short video.

“If you can’t find Gabriel, it’s because of your father,” Uncle Vigo tells me. “And I’m sorry, malyshka. You will never find him again.”

An iceberg dropped on my head and buried me with shivering coldness. What does Uncle Vigo mean? I can't question his face. I know him so well; I know how he looks when he tells the truth. You will never find him again.

I dial Papa's number, but he doesn't answer. I keep calling him until he finally picks up. "What have you done to him?" I yell on the phone. "Where is he?"

“What are you saying, Sasha?” My father acts confused, but I can tell he’s acting.

Uncle Vigo has no reason to betray Papa except for me. Maybe Uncle Vigo can't fight his conscience. He knows I'll look for Gabriel even if it takes forever. Tears roll down my cheeks as I tell Papa, "Please. Don't hurt him. I beg you."

“I don’t know what you are talking about,” Papa insists.

"If Gabriel isn't in the restaurant when I arrive, I swear you'll never see me again. I will join him – wherever in heaven you might have sent him," I warn.

The elevator door opens, and I quickly walk in. My entire body is shaking; I feel like fainting.Gabriel is safe.I pray my warning scared my father, and he’ll consider sparing Gabriel.

When the elevator door opens, a realization greets me. There's only one way I can save Gabriel.

"Papa, please," I plead as soon as my father answers his phone. "I'll do anything you want. I'll marry Dmitri Fador if you want, just don’t harm him.”

A long pause became my answer. I groan and hang up the phone. A few minutes later, I received a message from my father ordering me to call him and declare that I don't care about Gabriel. I search for an isolated spot and call my father.

"I don't care about Gabriel. I never loved him."

“Are you sure, my malyshka?” Papa asks.

My whole body vibrates as I become furious. I take a deep breath and declare, "I'm sure. I never loved Gabriel. Just let him go."

Gabriel

"I'm sure of it. I never loved Gabriel. "

Xerxes turns off the phone before Sasha can end her words. He raises his eyebrows while smiling like a victorious demon. The sound of chains wrapped in my body clanks as I resist the men from putting me in a coffin. The cold and loud rushing wind from the ocean joins the angry rumbles of my heart.Sasha! If my hatred is fire, it could have burned the chains. She never loved me? All this was to trap Vigo and me?

I should have known she was a too-good-to-be-true bitch. How can Xerxes have an angel for a daughter? She was only pretending, and she was better than me. Of course, Sasha learned from the best.

“My daughter thanks you for the ring,” Xerxes tells me. “How loving you are to give Sasha the key to your father’s fortune.”

My body stiffs from the panic and anger. They only wanted the ring! Even when I'm a demon fueled by revenge, I'm still a sentimental fool. Xerxes and Sasha must have gambled if I'd give it once I fell in love.I am such a fool.Anyone close to my parents would know that the inscription on the ring wasn't their vow. They were parts of a line in the Bible. The verse's number is the key to my father's offshore accounts.

“With that ring, a sob story about your romance, my daughter can get access to the Petrovich fortune,” Xerxes smiles. “She can buy her freedom without losing a cent from my fortune. You see? My daughter is not a fool. You are.”

Xerxes pours a whiskey on my face, waking the pain of my half-burned face. My screams resonate all over the room until they have pushed me to the coffin. No!This is not my end. I will not die! I cannot die! These people will have to pay. I will break both of them.

The door of the coffin closes, and everything around me darkens. The tiny space suffocates me. The pain on my face keeps me awake to know I'm about to die. And in the middle of my fear of death, I close my eyes and forget everything good in this world. I pray to the devil that if he can spare me again from this death, I will come and become Satan in the Belovs’ lives.

Papa. Mama.I’m not joining you for now. I will live and make Xerxes and Sasha feel the pain of my revenge.

“Say hello to your father for me,” Xerxes says while knocking on the door of the coffin.

“I’ll kill you, Xerxes. You and your daughter!” I yell before the coffin falls into the ocean.

The water leaks inside. I take all the air I can have from the tiny space and close my eyes. I want to survive, but how? I’m doomed! Xerxes has buried me alive in this cold ocean. And just like my father’s body, no one will know where to find mine.
