Page 6 of Love Like Mine

I think about what just happened and I feel myself break all over again. My entire body breaks out in shivers as the memory of being defiled assaults me.

“They got away!” I hear a pissed-off voice snap a second later.

“But don’t worry, we’ll fucking find them,” another pissed-off one snaps. I feel another person kneel beside my head before he speaks.

“Don’t worry, baby girl. We’ll find whoever did this to you,” he whispers. I realize that Camryn was with the guys when they found me.

Through all their assurances, I stay quiet. Right now I still couldn’t speak even if I wanted to.

“Guys, get me something to cover her up with!” Camryn says urgently. I now remember that I’m only in my bra and the rest of me is naked. Oh great, will the humiliation of this place never cease? But then again, that’s the least of my worries, isn’t it?

A moment later, I feel the softness of a blanket cover me and the warmth of it makes the chill go away a little.

“I’m going to gently lift you up now, okay?” Ransom whispers and I nod my head. He lifts me up into his arms and then he’s walking away with me. Another whimper escapes me at the pain in my body, but I keep it together. I don’t want to break in front of anyone.

He lays me down in the backseat of their vehicle and a moment later Camryn lifts my head up and places it on her lap as she gets in the back with me. Wolf slips in the front with Ransom at the wheel as we take off. I’m guessing Cyrus is probably taking my car.

“What are we going to do?” I hear Camryn ask.

“Where the hell is Knox, anyway?” Cyrus asks.

“It’s game day,” Ransom says.

“Uh, guys! What the hell are we doing?” Camryn asks again, this time with more sass to her voice.

“I don’t know the extent of her injuries, so we have to take her to the hospital. Then we need to let Knox know what happened,” Wolf says.

“I’m pretty sure the asshole is a lot like us and he’ll want to fucking finish whoever hurt our girl back there,” Ransom says, sounding like he’s ready for bloodshed right this very minute.

“No! No hospital! And no one is telling Knox anything!” I rasp out into the quiet car, finally finding my voice again.

“Babe, we have to take you to the hospital to get checked out,” Camryn says gently while rubbing my hair.

“Please, no hospital. I just want to be as far away from there and what just happened. I’ll deal with it on my own,” I say with all the conviction I can muster, but definitely don’t feel.

“Fine,” she says after a minute of staring me down. “But you’re coming to our place to clean up and then you can decide on what to do after.”

“That works,” I relent, knowing that I won’t be able to change her mind. That’s fine for now though, I guess. I want nothing but a hot shower, where I can scrub my skin free of that guy’s touch.

A few moments later, we pull up to their mansion and Ransom lifts me into his arms again and walks with me inside their home. He walks all the way up the stairs and then he takes me into a room.

The shock of everything has waned a little, but I still have that pounding headache. I don’t know if I have a concussion or not, but hopefully I don’t. I try to open my eyes a little but it’s difficult since both are still swollen.

Everything is blurry as I try to look around the room. I’m guessing it’s Camryn’s and I smile a little because it definitely suits her. It’s dark and chic, just like she is. Ransom places me down on her bed before he stands to his full height again, looking down at me.

“We’ll be downstairs if you need anything,” he says, and Wolf and Cyrus nod their heads.

“Thank you,” I whisper, getting choked up again.

“No need for a thank you. You’re our friend now and friends help each other in their time of need,” Ransom says before they walk out of the room, closing the door behind them.

“I got a bath ready for you,” Camryn says as she comes back into the room. She hands me a towel and some clothes. I take them from her with a small smile.

“Thank you,” I whisper to her as I pass her, slowly making my way to her bathroom. Once I’m inside, I close and lock the door behind me. I hang the towel up and put the clothes to one side. I can see the steam coming out from the tub filled with water and the scent of whatever she used smells amazing.

I drop the blanket from around me and even though I know I shouldn’t, I can’t help myself. I move to stand in front of the mirror, and the sight before me causes me to gasp. Both my eyes are swollen. There’s blood on my face and my body is littered with black and blue bruises from all the kicks and punches they delivered during their assault.

Seeing it all before me makes the dam finally break. I sob as the pain of it all bears down on me. I never expected in a million years that someone would take things so far.
