“Mithras?” he asked with wide eyes.
“Yes, but not until tomorrow.”
Ares laughed and shook his head. “Marchand. Still has to get the final word.”
“Not for long,” I said, smiling and leading him to the front door. “He may soon regret recommending me as coalition leader. No way I’ll allow him to hold back information we need to do our jobs.”
Ares’ eyes scrunched. “There’s something I need to say before we go inside.”
“Okay.”
He held one of my hands in his. “I’m so proud of you.”
I opened my mouth to thank him, but he raised a finger to my lips. “There’s more.”
“Wait,” I said when he lowered his finger. “I need to tell you something first.”
He nodded.
“I love you, War God.”
“I love you too, my Nemesis.”
