I folded my arms. “He’s going to find out eventually.”

Any remnants of her cheerful demeanor diminished. “No, he’s not.”

Flynn appeared in the doorway behind me. “What am I not going to find out?”

My heart stopped, but Daisy’s didn’t skip a beat.

“How many dresses I’m stealing,” she said, sliding her foot into a stiletto heel.

I fell against the wall, releasing the air from my lungs. I wanted to tell Flynn when the timing was right.

“Why don’t you wear one tonight?” Flynn asked, chuckling at the pile she was clearly keeping for herself.

Daisy frowned. “Tonight?”

My teeth gnashed as I internally pleaded with Flynn to shut up.

“A few of Ethan’s paintings are showing in an exhibition at LB Galleries tonight. Lots of prospective buyers are going to be there, so I thought I’d make some introductions. It’s going to be quite the event. You can come if you want.”

“Daisy hates parties,” I said, scuffing my foot on the carpet. And I didn’t need the distraction.

Daisy’s head jerked back. “I don’t hate parties.”

“Actually…you do.” Flynn laughed. “You either disappear early or don’t go at all.”

“Well…” Daisy lifted her chin. “They can be overwhelming.”And triggering.Ever since her parents' wake, she’d only make a brief appearance before vanishing. It clearly reminded her of that heartbreaking day. The day I royally screwed up.

“She should stay home.” I needed to be on my A-game tonight if I intended on making some money, and Daisy would only steal my focus.

“No.” Daisy stood straighter. “I need to put myself out there, and an art show sounds rather tame.”

Flynn chuckled. “Adrian’s art shows are hardly tame.”

“Oh…” Her face paled.

“See…” I whacked Flynn’s bicep. “It’s too much for her.”

“It’s fine,” Daisy grumbled as she rummaged through the dresses she was keeping. “I already have the perfect outfit in mind.”

“Good.” Flynn smiled as my stomach plummeted. “Be ready by eight.”

“Are you sure she should come?”

Flynn straightened his tie in the entryway mirror. “Yes, she needs get out more. Especially after what that fucker did.”

“Yeah, but…” My words faded as Daisy stepped into the hallway…looking un-fucking-believable.

Her brother’s eyebrows rose. “Wow. You scrub up nice, sis.”

“You can’t wear that,” I stated firmly.Fuck.The black dress was so fitted and short I could see everything I desired. Every curve of her body, her porcelain skin, with stilettos that defined those toned legs that belonged around my body. I pulled my lust-filled gaze away as the crotch of my suit pants tightened.

Daisy whipped her hand to her hip. “Why not?”

“It’s…inappropriate.”
