“Here,” I said, holding out the matches as he built the fire.

Ethan gazed up at me and smiled. “Thanks.” Instead of taking the matches from my hand, he grabbed my wrist and pulled me into his lap. “But it won’t be the fire keeping you warm tonight.”

I giggled in his arms. “What about Flynn? Won't he be here soon?”

“He just texted your phone.” His lips grazed my neck. “Apparently, the roads are blocked. So, he won’t be up until tomorrow.”

“Oh, really?” My cheeks warmed until the state of the bedrooms ruined the fantasy. “But everything is soaked, including the bunks.”

“You think that will stop me?” A devious glint appeared in Ethan’s eyes before he kissed my forehead. “Why don’t you run a bath before we lose the only power we have left. I don’t want you catching a chill.” He pushed me to my feet with a tap to my ass. “I’ll join you once I get this fire going.”

“Okay.” I smiled back at Ethan as my dress accidentally-on-purpose slipped off my body onto the floor below. “Just don’t take too long.”

A muffled cuss word followed me down the hall, and my grin grew. He wanted me. Not as family, but as a woman, and I wanted to give him every part of me.

While the tub filled with hot water, I stepped out of my bikini bottoms and into the glorious warmth. The temperature had plummeted with the turn of the weather, and I was shivering—or perhaps it was from anticipation. This felt different to our first night together. This felt intimate and real, and I had no idea what that meant for us.

As thunder rumbled in the distance, the lights flickered on and off before disappearing all together.Fuck, I hate the dark.

“You okay in here?” Ethan’s voice followed the soft light of the candle entering the bathroom.

“I am now,” I said, rising out of the bubbles.

He rested the candle on the tiny vanity. “Want some company?”

I tucked up my legs. “Yep.”

Blush filled my cheeks as he slid down his pants.

“Jesus, this is hot,” he cried out as he sank into the water.

“You’ll get used to it.”

His legs surrounded mine as he leaned back. “Mmm…you’re right. I think I can get used to this.”

I reached for the soap and handed it over. “You’re covered in ash.”

He squinted at his body. “Can you do it? I can’t see shit.”

“Sure.” I shifted closer as he sat up and stretched out his muscular arms. While I rubbed soap up and down his tattooed biceps and forearms, his fingers brushed over my breast, intensifying the pulse below.

While attempting to steady my heartrate, I studied his arm as I washed off the suds.

“What?” he asked, tilting his head to observe my curiosity.

“I’m admiring your tattoos…wondering the stories behind them.”

“How do you know I didn’t just pick them from a wall?”

“Because I know you,” I said, lifting my eyes to his.

Ethan held my gaze for a little while before smiling. “Turn around.”

“Why?”

“Just do it, Daise,” he said, making room for me to shift my body between his legs.

I eased my back onto his chest. “Oh. I like this.”
