“Wait, where’s my chair?”

“Well, Kiki, if you were half as big as Andie, I would have brought one for you too.”

“I’m not sure that was a compliment, but I’ll take the chair,” Andie says. She helps me pass out the drinks and sandwiches while Sarah and Kiki lay the babies on the blanket. “This is so fun, TJ!”

“Well, I have the babies today since Connor is working, and I thought a restaurant would be too loud for them, and too crowded. And this is probably the last time we’ll be together like this before Sarah jets off to some award show and you guys have your babies.”

“I canceled the Vegas trip.” Sarah smiles nervously.

“What? Why?” I gasp.

“Because I need to be more present here.” She looks over at Kiki, who nods. “I’m thinking of starting my own makeup line.”

“Oh my god, Sarah, that’s amazing!” Andie gushes.

“Sare Bear, I love this idea,” I tell her.

“You do?”

“Yes! Do you know how many people asked Sonja for her lipstick color at the Teen Choice Awards?”

“Yeah, and she claimed she had no clue.” Kiki rolls her eyes.

“Well, she’s a snap, crackle, pop now.” I snap my fingers.

“What does that mean?” Andie whispers to Sarah.

“She’s a has-been, Shorts. Which I called from day one.”

“I heard she moved back home to Kansas and is living with her parents. Sad.” Sarah frowns. “Anyway, that’s the plan.”

“Well cheers, to new plans, babies, and friendship.”

“Cheers!” The four of us clink our glasses of sparkling cider.

After lunch, I grab another bag from the stroller. “Because you bitches wouldn’t let me throw you a shower, I got you a little something. Sare Bear, one for you too.”

“Awe, TJ, that’s so sweet,” the three of them say, greedily grabbing the little box shaped like a Chinese take-out container.

“Now wait. You have to open them together on three. One, two, three.”

They open the tops of the boxes and a little pop sounds while a poof of Tiffany-blue glitter rains down all over them.

“I so hate you right now,” Andie grumbles.

I take out my phone and snap a picture. “I know, but to see the expressions on your faces right now. So worth it.” “Some things will never change.” Sarah sighs.

“TJ, I have a meeting with a client this afternoon. Now I look like I’ve been at a strip club getting lap dances.”

“Everyone needs a little sparkle, Kiki. There’s something else in the box.”

The girls look warily in the box and each lift out a silver bangle with a charm for each of us on them.

“I have one too.” I lift my sleeve and show them.

“It’s beautiful,” Sarah says. “Oh my gosh, look at the charms. A camera for Andie, a dress for Kiki, a sun for me, and a diamond for you? I’m confused, what does the diamond stand for?”

“Hello? Shine bright like a diamond? The most dazzling, sought-after gem in the world?”
