Danny was being careful, and Parc needed to respect that and wait for him to be ready. In the meantime, he pushed his calm understanding and his love through their bond toward him. He felt him relax just a little and gripped his hand tighter.

"I meant what I said." Parc captured his attention and held it firmly with his dark stare. "I love you. It may seem too soon to you, but I knew you the moment I laid eyes on you, and my feelings have grown ever since. What I feel is honest and true, and I vow to love, protect and provide for the rest of your lives." Parc was struggling, but he wanted to get this out and make it clear that this relationship was forever. "

The bond is solid, and no one will ever interfere. You are my Fated mate, and you are the only one I will ever desire. Look into your heart and see, for Fate will allow you to feel what I am feeling and will help you to understand our bond."

Danny teared up but blinked away the emotions that were surging within him. “I feel an overwhelming amount of emotion flooding my heart and mind, but I also feel your calm helping me to handle this flood of awareness.” He paused and took a breath.

“I’ve been feeling a rush of strange thoughts and feelings from the beginning from the moment I first saw you. Nothing unpleasant all was geared toward a driving need to know you and to be near you. You became my obsession, and the more I got to know you, the more I wanted you for my own." He paused again and leaned a little closer.

"Even now, I have the urge to wrap my arms around you because I know you will make me feel better and more settled." Parc opened his arms, and Danny came forward, wrapping his arms around Parc's neck and squeezing tight. Parc hauled him up close with his arms snug around his waist, and they sat like this for several minutes. Parc could feel Danny's distance and reserve fading away, and he continued to channel his love and acceptance across their bond.

"There are people and forces after us, and for now, all I need is for you to trust me. I need you to believe what I tell you and to respond to my direction regarding this situation. Your police training will not save you or provide you the protection you require. What is happening is outside your understanding of the world.” Parc needed his agreement; he needed to know that Danny would follow him.

"Promise that you will let me protect you. My wolf is scratching at my soul, demanding that you be safe. I will not lose you, Danny." Parc felt his emotions welling up at the mere thought of something happening to his mate, and it took a few deep breaths to force back the fear.

Danny pulled back and looked Parc in the eyes staring and getting the cops to read the truth and depth of his words. After a short pause, he gave a quick nod and buried his face back into Parc's shoulder. "I will let you take the lead, and I will follow your instructions. You have my promise."

Danny was completely blown away by the evening’s events. Never in a thousand years could he have predicted this outcome of his relationship with the bartender. But he wasn't just a bartender. He was the most magnificent man Danny had ever been with and had fast become the focus of all his hopes and obsessions.

When Parc shifted into the wolf from Danny’s dream, he thought for just a moment that he was hallucinating that this could not be real, but Parc’s words and glance had settled, and he knew then that he was experiencing something fantastic and unbelievable, but he believed Parc made him believe.

The men at his house were there to kill, and if Parc had not been there, Danny would have died. He had no defense against what those men were prepared to throw at him. His gun gave him little protection if what he thought he knew about vampires and werewolves was even half true. Parc had signaled for him to stand back, and he obeyed, and he lived so he would follow Parc and take his direction.

Parc had dropped a lot of truths and information on him in a very short period of time. He tried to take it all in all at once but was finding the volume beyond what he could handle right now, considering the life-threatening situation they were currently in, so he broke it down. He broke it down to the facts he could fully trust and believe the elements he did not question and used that as his starting point. He trusted Parc, and that was the biggest and most comprehensive fact, and from there, he accepted that Parc had shifted into a wolf. Most important of all, he believed that Parc had his best interests in mind. He left it there for now and would build on the rest using these truths as his foundation.

They went inside through the back entrance, but this time, the door was locked and braced after they were inside. It was a steel door heavy and nearly impenetrable, but they still braced it with steel bars and intricate locks. Whatever they were keeping out was a serious threat.

Parc introduced him around. Cross was there, as were Noa, Ames, Hofer, and Zeke. Danny glanced over at Parc when Zeke was introduced, and he answered his question before he asked. "Zeke's a tiger shifter." Danny nodded and accepted

They sat down at one of the large tables, all except Noa, who kept watch at the front door. Parc and Cross explained Dominion and their desire to infiltrate the strip and take over.

"Officer Smythe told me about this on our way back to the station the night of the raid. He had suspicions of a setup and believed locals were also involved." Danny recalled Smythe's theories, and they were all falling into place with his new information.

"James Smythe?" Cross asked, and Danny nodded.

"He's a good cop." That was all he said, and then they were back to the issue at hand.

"Who is Mitch?" Parc asked, and Danny closed down for a moment at the mention of the name. "Vic pointedly stated that name in your direction. What does it mean?" He pushed a little harder and reached over and took Danny's hand, and held it. Everyone at the table remained silent and waited for the answer.

"I don't want to believe it. Maybe Vic was just trying to jack me up." Danny scrambled for an explanation.

“Believe what?” Cross’ asked him in a tone that was impossible to deny.

"Sgt. Jeffers, his first name is Mitch," Danny told them of his odd behavior after Danny mentioned Victory Storm and his command to back off and leave it alone.

"Sgt. Jeffers transferred here ten months ago from Columbus," Zeke interjected, and everything started making sense.

“Was he on their payroll?” Cross snapped.

"Yes, and it was at the urging of his good friend Anton Grasse that he take the transfer to the Cincinnati police force." Zeke looked over at Cross. "Grasse didn't even try to hide that fact. He must be pretty confident in the outcome."

“Anton is the Master of the Dominion Coven in Columbus.” Parc clarified for Danny.

“He’s working for them.” Danny verbalized the conclusion they had all made.

Parc appreciated his mate's acceptance and help, but he wished that he could just send him upstairs to be with Autry and sit this out. The fear of something happening to him was tying Parc in knots, and then Cross made a suggestion that set him right on edge. If Cross were not, his Alpha Parc would have his hands around his throat right now.

"Would you consider setting yourself up as bait to lure in Sgt? Mitch Jeffers." Cross spoke directly to Danny. Parc shifted in his seat, clearly agitated by the suggestion.
