“You two look great together. I’m not even going to hold you.”

Lisa turned back to Tina and burst into laughter.

“You think?”

“Hell, yeah, she does,” Chelsea added, “And so do I.”

“Hmmm. Well, that’s something, I guess.”

Tina and Chelsea frowned. “What’s that supposed to mean?”

“We’re not together. I mean, we’re each other’s date for the night, but that’s it.”

Tina huffed. “Girl, what are you doing with that fine man, then?”

Lisa’s voice dipped into a sultry drawl. “Fucking him.”

Chelsea gasped, and Tina held up a hand. She and Lisa slapped hands, and Tina shouted, “My girl!”

Lisa laughed heartily. “I knew you would like that.”

“But it’s the truth, right?”

“Oh yes, it’s definitely the truth. I’ve been letting that man fuck me upside down and sideways, perpendicular, and skewed.”

“I am living for this truth right now!” Tina shimmied her shoulders. “I’m guessing it’s good.”

“Tony the Tiger grrrrrreat!” They laughed. “Where are your husbands?”

“I’d like to point out that I’m not married, but newly engaged.” Chelsea held up her hand, and a diamond ring cast a sparkle across the table.

“Daaaaaamn!” Tina and Lisa squealed.

“How the hell did I not see that?” Tina asked.

“Probably because you’re in la-la land dreaming about Malik most of the time.”

Tina shrugged. “Can’t argue with that.”

“That rock ishuge!” Lisa grabbed Chelsea’s hand to turn it back and forth, inspecting it thoroughly. “Damn, this thing is blinding.”

Chelsea nodded. “We were in Paris. A proposal was in order, ya know?”

Tina and Lisa muttered in agreement, still staring at the ring in awe.

“Well, congratulations! Now all that’s left to do is marry the man!” Tina said with a smug grin.

Chelsea smiled. “I agree.” She pulled her hand away and looked up at her two friends, who were still eying her ring. “I’m excited for all of us. I know it will be a wild ride, but I think it’ll also be filled with a lot of love.”

Lisa looked thoughtful. “You know what they say:Love conquers all. I’m excited to see what our futures have in store.”

Tina nodded. “Same here. But for now, let’s enjoy the present and have some fun. Life’s too short to worry about tomorrow.”

“True that!”

“And to answer your question, my husband and Chelsea’s fiancé...” Chelsea covered her face and squealed at the wordsher fiancé.“They are working the room with their mother.”

They all turned to see the men now standing together, including their fourth brother, Derek James Clark. They were engrossed in conversation, and their mother, Cynthia Clark, wasn’t too far away.
