My body jerks when he says it and my green eyes widen on the storm in his blue eyes.

He nods his silver head. “But you can call me Saar, Serenity. Haven’t your parents told you about me?”

I shake my head and he sighs, letting his fingers drop to his side. “I wondered. But you are still young. They perhaps didn’t want to scare you.”

“You are the one who will keep the world from ending. You are the one who wins the war and saves all humanity.”

My mouth drops open and he smiles. “Yes, little dragon. You will. And you are my fated mate.”

I almost collapse to the ground, stunned. But my dragon rears up and roars again, recognition burning in my veins. This is what she tried to tell me.

Our one true mate is standing here, waiting to take us.

I step forward and hold out my hand, taking one last look at my parents, before I vanish in a whirl of lightning and thunder as he pulls me into his arms.

SAAR

She fits against me so well. Just as fate decreed. I stare down into her wondering eyes as we travel through space and time to my home. The fabric of the universe cradles us as we shoot through it to where we both belong. My estate in Magic, Wyoming.

Serenity’s eyes widen and goggle as she gets a look at my home. Our home.

“Where are we? How did we get here?”

“I brought you home, little one.”

Her head whips back and forth, studying the surrounding woods and my large home. “Home is where?”

“Wyoming. Magic, Wyoming to be exact.” I take her elbow and lead her towards my home.

She digs her little feet in and growls, “I don’t know who you are. You say you are my mate and my dragon says that you’re right.”

She lifts her head inside me.Yes. He is very strong and will take care of us and our young.

She shakes her head wryly. “I’m well able to take care of my own children. I don’t need a man to help me, Saar.”

I give her a roguish grin. “I would give you those children, little dragon.”

Her spine stiffens and she glares at me frostily. “I did not ask you to. I barely know your name let alone anything about you. If you think that I will mate with a perfect stranger because my dragon thinks I should or you do, you don’t know me very well.”

I have to respect her backbone and force of will. She’s a very strong shifter. I felt the connection with her dragon almost immediately. She’s a perfect specimen just like I knew she would be.

I’ve seen her in my dreams, this little shifter with the smartass attitude that begs me to take her and claim her immediately.

But if she wants time to get to know each other? I’m willing to wait. But that doesn’t mean I can’t help the issue along a little bit.

“Come with me. We’ll find you a room.”

Her eyes dance when she looks at the large two-story home. “Is it going to be hard to find me a room? This place is huge! Who else lives here?”

“Just me.”

Her head cocks and the fiery red hair that’s been tempting the hell out of me since I found my little mate slides across her shoulder. It looks so damn soft that I want nothing more than to plunge my fingers into the scarlet strands, wrap them around my digits and tug her head back for a kiss. One that will seal the fate that neither of us can really fight.

Not that I want to. I want my mate. My eyes drift down and my cock stiffens into a solid rod of steel. All those damn curves are going to be mine. They will welcome my seed and cradle my children. Nurture them until they’re ready to come into the world. I can feel her power even now. She has an unusual mix of powers and I’m not sure where her witch ancestor is on her family tree but there must be one because she has the overwhelming power of a strong white witch, but with no idea how to focus it, it’s lain dormant. Waiting to be pulled out of her.

And then there’s her dragon. Her shifter side, with her dragon, is very strong. I can feel her dragon inside of her. It’s calm and stoic in the face of what I know is coming. I wish she was better prepared since I barely made it to the graduation in time to save her. The demon was right behind me. Our strengths welled up and out, taking a swipe at the little town and thankfully not leveling it.

I open the door and step inside, dropping her arm. I know it doesn’t seem important to some people but I want her to step across my threshold of her own free will. I need to know, deep in my gut, that she’s coming with me on her own and that she desires these changes.
